Eve Thermo Control is a wireless room temperature sensor and controller for compatible Eve Thermo smart radiator valves. It measures temperature away from the radiator and can communicate directly with the valve over Thread using Matter bindings—but it is not a universal thermostat or a controller for underfloor heating.
What Eve Thermo Control does
A radiator valve measures conditions close to the radiator, where heat can make the reading differ from the temperature elsewhere in the room. Eve Thermo Control can be placed at a more representative spot, then send temperature information to a compatible Eve Thermo valve so it can regulate heating against the room reading. Eve describes it as an external temperature sensor and controller for the Eve Thermo smart radiator valve in its September 3, 2024 availability announcement.
The unit has a 320 × 320-pixel E-Ink display showing the selected target temperature and heating status. Its operating temperature range is 0 °C to 50 °C, and its humidity range is 5% to 95%. Eve lists typical accuracy as ±0.3 °C (±0.54 °F) for temperature and ±3% for humidity. These are product specifications, not a promise of identical readings in every room or placement.
How Matter and Thread fit together
Matter is the smart-home interoperability standard; Thread is the low-power wireless network used by the devices. Eve says Matter bindings let Thermo Control and the compatible radiator valve communicate directly over Thread. That direct device link does not remove the need for a supported Matter controller and Thread border router in Eve’s listed Apple setup.

What you need for a supported Apple setup
Eve specifies an Eve Thermo (4th generation) upgraded to Matter or an Eve Thermo (5th generation), plus iOS or iPadOS 17.6 or newer and an Apple home hub with Thread. The supported Apple hubs Eve names are:

Requirements and supported combinations are listed on Eve’s Thermo Control product page and Eve’s Thermo Control FAQ. Check those pages before purchase if your Eve Thermo generation, Matter upgrade, operating system, or hub differs from the listed setup.
What it cannot control
Thermo Control works for temperature transmission and regulation only with Eve Thermo, according to Eve’s FAQ. It is not presented as an external sensor for another manufacturer’s thermostat, and Eve says it cannot regulate underfloor heating. If your heating system is not a compatible Eve radiator valve, this is not the right controller.

Placement, power and physical specifications
Place the sensor where you want the room temperature measured rather than beside the heat source. Eve Thermo Control has an integrated rechargeable battery and charges over USB-C; Eve recommends a power supply rated at least 5 V, 500 mA. Its dimensions are 54 × 54 × 19 mm. How the companion Eve Thermo valve fits in
The controller does not operate a radiator on its own: the Eve Thermo smart radiator valve is the heating component it regulates. Eve lists the valve for M30 × 1.5 connections and includes Danfoss RA, RAV and RAVL adapters. The valve also uses Thread and requires a Matter controller/Thread border router hub. Confirm your radiator’s valve connection before buying; the adapters and compatibility details are listed on Eve’s Eve Thermo page.

Price and buying options
Eve’s September 3, 2024 announcement gave reference prices of €79.95 for Thermo Control alone and €159.95 for the Eve Thermo Comfort Set, which contains one Thermo Control and one Matter version of Eve Thermo. These are dated euro prices, not confirmed current prices or availability in every country; check local listings. The set may suit someone who needs both the sensor and valve, while an owner of a compatible valve may only need the controller. The combined purchase still needs a compatible hub and radiator fitting.

Is Eve Thermo Control a good fit?
- Consider it if you have a compatible Eve Thermo valve and want it to respond to temperature measured away from the radiator.
- Check requirements first if you are buying the valve and controller together, especially the valve generation, Matter upgrade, Thread-capable Apple hub, and radiator fitting.
- Choose another approach if you need a sensor for another brand’s thermostat or control for underfloor heating.
