There is no verified editor-tested list behind this title, so we can’t honestly name a single “best” glass or attribute picks to editors. For everyday use, start with a comfortable, versatile tumbler; choose specialized stemware or a rocks glass when a particular drink or occasion calls for it. The right choice depends on capacity, feel, care instructions and how you plan to use it.
How to choose drinking glasses for your home
Before comparing designs, consider what you actually serve. A glass that works for water and mixed drinks may be more useful day to day than a specialized glass used only occasionally. Epicurious notes that many of the glasses in its 2023 guide work for more than one kind of drink, and Consumer Reports describes short rocks or old-fashioned tumblers as options for spirits, cocktails or water.
- Start with the main use: Choose an all-purpose tumbler for frequent water service and mixed drinks; consider dedicated stemware or rocks glasses for narrower needs.
- Check capacity: A larger glass holds more, but may feel oversized in the hand or take up more room. Match capacity to the drinks you serve and the glass you want to handle comfortably.
- Assess feel and care: Rim shape, weight, stability and whether the glass fits your dishwasher can affect everyday comfort. Check the maker’s care instructions for the exact glass.
A versatile example: Bormioli Rocco Bodega glasses
Epicurious’s February 23, 2023 guide discusses Bormioli Rocco Bodega glasses in 7.5-, 12- and 17-ounce sizes. It describes the 12-ounce size as suitable for water or mixed drinks and the smaller size as useful for wine; the guide also notes that the 17-ounce glass may feel too large to some people. These are a concrete example to compare, not confirmed selections from the editors named in this article’s title. Check the current product listing for exact size, set quantity, care directions and availability.
What to compare before you buy
When weighing several sets or styles, compare equivalent details rather than relying on appearance alone.

- Stability and feel: Consider the base, rim, weight and grip, especially if the glasses will be used daily.

Durability and dishwasher safety depend on the specific glass
There is no single material or construction feature that makes one glass universally best. Good Housekeeping’s March 28, 2025 stemless-glass coverage identifies ease of use, performance, cleaning and durability as evaluation dimensions. Consumer Reports describes a heat-resistant glass as microwave- and dishwasher-safe for that specific item; that claim should not be extended to other glasses. Follow the care directions supplied for the product you choose.
