The Swinging-Arm Quilt Rack is a wall-mounted display whose arms can be repositioned or swung out of the way. WOOD magazine lists overall dimensions of 52 inches high by 3 inches deep; its width is 28 inches with the arms on one side and 52 inches when they extend in both directions. Those are published dimensions, not a stated load rating or wall-installation specification.
What the quilt rack plan is for
The design displays quilts while keeping them accessible and uses wall space rather than a floor-standing frame. The WOOD Store describes the project as a way to save floor space and keep quilts readily visible and retrievable. The movable arms distinguish it from a rack with fixed rails: they can be arranged in different positions or moved aside.
The publisher says its example uses red oak for the upright and swinging arms, while allowing builders to choose wood that suits their furnishings. The text reviewed does not provide a complete bill of materials, so confirm the plan itself for stock, quantities, and dimensions before buying lumber.

These dimensions are from the publisher’s project page. They describe the rack, not the clearance needed around it when mounted. The available plan descriptions do not specify how far arms project from a particular wall arrangement, how much weight the rack holds, or what wall anchors and fasteners are required. Check the full plan and assess the intended installation rather than treating the dimensions as load or mounting guidance.

What the plan listing says is included
WoodworkersWorkshop describes paper and PDF versions with full-color pages, scaled templates printable on letter-size paper, building instructions, and finishing guidance. Its tool summary names a table saw, router, drill, clamps, and other common workshop tools; that summary is not a complete equipment or safety checklist. Review the plan before starting to identify the specific tools, materials, and safe procedures for your setup.

Choosing between this design and other quilt racks
WoodworkersWorkshop’s category includes wall-mounted racks, a quilt ladder, and freestanding quilt stands. The meaningful choice is how you want to display and access quilts: this design is wall-mounted and uses repositionable arms, while other listed styles include floor-standing options. The rack’s compact published depth should not be mistaken for its full footprint when its arms are extended. The listings reviewed do not offer comparable load limits, difficulty ratings, or installation specifications, so those criteria cannot be reliably compared from the listing information alone.
