Choose based first on the washer’s dispensing system: the cited WEB 685 TwinDos manual requires Miele UltraPhase 1 and UltraPhase 2 cartridges, while the cited WWJ 880 manual lists UltraWhite powder and UltraColor liquid for manual dosing. Then check your exact model’s instructions and the garment care label.
First identify how your Miele washer dispenses detergent
If your model has TwinDos
For the WEB 685 covered by Miele’s operating instructions, TwinDos can only be operated with Miele UltraPhase 1 and UltraPhase 2 cartridges. Miele describes UltraPhase 1 as a liquid detergent that dissolves dirt and removes common stains, and UltraPhase 2 as a bleaching agent for stubborn stains. The system dispenses the components at separate times. These instructions are model-specific; check your washer’s manual rather than assuming all Miele machines have the same TwinDos requirements.
Do not put ordinary detergent in TwinDos cartridge compartments on the basis of these instructions. For another model, follow its own manual and the detergent label.
If you dose detergent manually
Miele’s WWJ 880 operating instructions list UltraWhite powder and UltraColor liquid among detergents designed for Miele washing machines. The manual describes UltraWhite for 20, 30, 40, 60 and 95°C, and UltraColor for 20, 30, 40 and 60°C. These are manufacturer product descriptions, not independent comparative tests showing that either detergent cleans better overall.

Match detergent to the laundry and wash
Use the garment’s care label, the selected program and the detergent packaging together. The cited WWJ 880 instructions establish Miele’s named manual-dosing options, but they do not make either product suitable for every fabric or load. Check the label for any restrictions and follow the detergent’s directions for the load and temperature.
Soil level and dose also matter. In the WEB 685 manual, TwinDos dispensing is preset for normally soiled laundry; Miele distinguishes light, normal and heavy soiling. Follow the detergent packaging directions, and reduce the amount if excessive foam builds up. Do not treat a preset for one cited model as a setting recommendation for every Miele washer.

Keep detergent choice separate from washer maintenance
Routine detergent and cleaning products serve different purposes. The WWJ 880 manual lists TwinDosCare for cleaning the dispensing system before at least two months of downtime or before changing product. It also lists IntenseClean for cleaning the machine and water-softener tablets for hard water. Use these products only as directed in the instructions for your model; they are not substitutes for laundry detergent.

The cited manuals cover specific washer models, and product formats or availability may differ by country. Confirm the model number, dispensing method and locally available products before buying. Miele’s shop directory points to regional destinations, but it does not establish current stock in every market.
