Print and transfer a stencil
- Choose a pattern that suits the pumpkin and the carver’s experience.
- Resize the pattern to fit the pumpkin before printing; do not assume one size will fit every pumpkin.
- Print the design, then tape it to the pumpkin, or cut out the pattern and trace around it.
- Work in a clean, dry, well-lit area, with dry hands, pumpkin, and tools.
- Have an adult do the cutting. Children can help scoop the inside or trace a design with a marker.

Keep carving safe
