Choose a Reolink camera by starting with the installation you can support, then check the view, recording mode, chime or lighting behavior, and recorder compatibility for the exact model. A wired Wi-Fi doorbell, a PoE doorbell, and a battery doorbell are not interchangeable: they use different power arrangements and offer different recording capabilities. Floodlight features and compatibility also vary by model and hardware version.
Which Reolink doorbell fits your wiring and network?
Reolink’s official doorbell comparison distinguishes the Battery Video Doorbell (2nd Gen), first-generation Battery Video Doorbell, Video Doorbell WiFi, and Video Doorbell PoE. The power requirements below are the first filter; check the specific unit and your existing wiring before purchase or installation.
| Doorbell type | Power and installation | Recording distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Video Doorbell WiFi | Wired power: 12–24V AC or 24V DC. Connects over Wi-Fi. | Supports continuous recording. |
| Video Doorbell PoE | IEEE 802.3af PoE, or the documented low-voltage wiring input of 12–24V AC or 24V DC. | Supports continuous recording. Reolink Cloud is not supported for this model. |
| Battery Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) | Can run on battery or wired power. Wired mode requires 16–24V AC or 24V DC; in battery mode, a wired input can trickle-charge the battery. | Battery mode is more restricted. Wired mode enables 24/7 and pre-recording when used standalone. |
| First-generation Battery Video Doorbell | Battery operation; separate wired-chime requirements apply if connecting a chime. | Motion-triggered recording only, according to Reolink’s comparison. |
For the wired Wi-Fi and PoE models, do not assume that a transformer which powers an existing chime automatically meets every camera or chime requirement. Reolink’s FAQ says an existing mechanical-doorbell power system is compatible with its wired doorbell when the transformer is 16V AC, 50/60Hz, 30VA. Have the transformer rating and wiring checked before installation; if you are unsure about the circuit, use a qualified installer.
What view and image format do the doorbells provide?
Reolink lists both Battery Video Doorbell generations at 2K (4MP, 2048 × 2048), with a square 1:1 image and a 150° horizontal and vertical field of view. The wired Wi-Fi and PoE models are listed at 2K+ (5MP, 2560 × 1920), but their framing differs by color variant:

| Doorbell models | Resolution and aspect ratio | Field of view |
|---|---|---|
| Battery Video Doorbell; Battery Video Doorbell (2nd Gen) | 2K, 4MP (2048 × 2048); 1:1 | 150° horizontal × 150° vertical |
| Video Doorbell WiFi or PoE, black variant | 2K+, 5MP (2560 × 1920); 4:3 | 135° horizontal × 100° vertical |
| Video Doorbell WiFi or PoE, white variant | 2K+, 5MP (2560 × 1920); 3:4 | 100° horizontal × 135° vertical |
A square view may suit a doorway where seeing more above and below the visitor matters; the wired models’ orientation depends on the color variant. Compare the listed framing with the approach to your entrance rather than choosing on resolution alone.
Does the Reolink doorbell work with your existing chime?
Chime compatibility is a separate check from whether the camera can be powered by existing doorbell wiring. Reolink says its wired doorbell is not compatible with third-party chimes. Reolink Chime versions are generation-specific and are not interchangeable, so match the accessory to the exact doorbell generation.

- Accurate Alerts by Humanoid Detection: You can set it to alert you when a human is detected, ignoring trivial non-human passers-by, and you can set the motion zone to decide where objects’ movements will be detected.
Battery doorbells have their own wired mechanical- and digital-chime options. For the referenced Battery model wired-chime connection, Reolink gives a transformer range of 8–24V AC, 50/60Hz, 5–40VA. Verify that the guidance applies to your exact generation and chime before connecting it.
How do recording and storage differ?
Recording depends on both model and operating mode. The wired Wi-Fi and PoE doorbells support continuous recording. The first-generation Battery model is motion-triggered only. On the Battery Video Doorbell (2nd Gen), wired mode enables 24/7 and pre-recording when standalone; battery operation has more limited recording behavior. Reolink’s comparison also distinguishes standalone recording from recording through an NVR or Home Hub, so confirm the mode you intend to use rather than assuming a feature applies in every setup.

Reolink lists Cloud support for Wi-Fi and battery doorbells, but not for the PoE doorbell. NVR compatibility depends on the recorder’s hardware. The product comparison does not establish one universal maximum microSD capacity for all doorbell generations, so check the individual model’s current specifications before buying a card.
Reolink quotes up to 300 days of battery life for the Battery Video Doorbell (2nd Gen), based on five minutes of recording per day. Treat that as the manufacturer’s stated usage scenario, not a general runtime prediction for a busier entrance or different settings.

Which Reolink floodlight camera suits the location?
Begin with the mounting point and power available. Reolink’s UK product page describes the TrackFlex Floodlight WiFi as a hardwired camera, so it is not a wire-free substitute for a battery doorbell. The same regional product page lists these features:
- Three PIR sensors and 270-degree out-of-view detection.
- 3000-lumen floodlights.
- Dual-band Wi-Fi 6, IP66 weatherproofing, and a 110dB siren or prerecorded voice.
- Storage by microSD card up to 512GB, Reolink NVR, Home Hub, or FTP/NAS.
These are manufacturer-listed specifications for a UK storefront listing, not independently tested results. Check the product page for your region and the exact model before relying on its availability or feature set. Other Reolink floodlights have separate documentation; do not infer TrackFlex’s detection, lighting, or storage features for another model.

How do Floodlight and Light Alarm controls work?
For Elite Floodlight WiFi, Elite Pro Floodlight PoE, TrackFlex Floodlight WiFi, and Solar Floodlight Cam, Reolink’s support guide describes separate app controls for ordinary lighting and detection-triggered lighting. Both controls operate the same physical light: they are settings for different behaviors, not two independent lamps. Duo Floodlight WiFi and Duo Floodlight PoE have a separate spotlight guide.
The guide lists app version 4.55 or later for the covered setup, with version 4.59.1 or later for Solar Floodlight Cam; it also specifies client version 8.20.5 or later and the latest camera firmware. NVR and Home Hub support is firmware-dependent. Check the relevant model’s current instructions before configuring these controls.
What to verify before buying or wiring
- Identify the exact doorbell or floodlight model, generation, color variant, and hardware version.
- For a doorbell, confirm the transformer rating and wiring type against that model’s power and chime requirements.
- Decide whether motion-event recording is sufficient or whether your intended model and mode support continuous or pre-recording.
- Match any Reolink Chime to the doorbell generation; do not assume a third-party chime will work with a wired Reolink doorbell.
- Check the exact NVR or Home Hub model, firmware, and desired features in Reolink’s current compatibility tables. A shared family name alone does not establish compatibility.
- For a floodlight, confirm the mounting location, power arrangement, regional model listing, storage route, and app or firmware prerequisites.
Reolink’s compatibility guidance includes hardware-version restrictions for Home Hub support and advanced event or video-search features. Because firmware, product generations, and recorder support can change, verify the exact combination in the current manufacturer support information before committing to an installation.
