Amazon’s March 25, 2026 refresh brings 2K video to the rechargeable Ring Battery Doorbell (2nd Gen), with a Plus model adding a Quick Release Battery Pack and a Pro stepping up to 4K. The entry model is the straightforward choice for a battery-powered installation; the Plus is aimed at easier battery swaps, while the Pro prioritizes resolution and zoom. Amazon’s listed U.S. prices were launch prices, not confirmed current prices.
What Amazon announced
Amazon announced three refreshed battery-powered doorbells on March 25, 2026: the Battery Doorbell (2nd Gen), Battery Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen), and Battery Doorbell Pro (2nd Gen). It also announced a refreshed 2K Wired Doorbell (2nd Gen). The launch prices below are the U.S. prices Amazon listed at announcement; they should not be read as current retail prices.
| Model | Video and zoom | Power or battery distinction | U.S. launch price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Battery Doorbell (2nd Gen), also called Battery Doorbell 2K | 2K; up to 6x Enhanced Zoom | Rechargeable battery | $99.99, Amazon’s March 2026 launch price |
| Battery Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen) | 2K | Quick Release Battery Pack | $179.99, Amazon’s March 2026 launch price |
| Battery Doorbell Pro (2nd Gen) | 4K Retinal video; up to 10x Enhanced Zoom | Battery-powered | $249.99, Amazon’s March 2026 launch price |
| Wired Doorbell (2nd Gen) | 2K | Wired model | $79.99, Amazon’s March 2026 launch price |
Amazon says the cameras include motion detection, night vision, and real-time alerts in the Ring app. These are manufacturer descriptions; the sources available do not establish independent comparative test results. Amazon’s launch announcement contains the lineup details.
How the entry Battery Doorbell 2K fits an installation
Ring’s product page identifies the entry product as Battery Doorbell 2K (2nd Gen), a 2026 release. Its stated resolution is 1920 × 1920, with a 140° horizontal by 140° vertical field of view. Ring lists two-way talk, motion detection, infrared night vision, up to 6x zoom, and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. Ring estimates installation at 10 minutes, but actual work depends on the mounting surface and whether existing wiring or accessories are involved. Ring’s product page is the reference for the current specification listing.

Network and charging considerations
- The entry model uses Wi-Fi 4 on 2.4 GHz. Ring recommends at least 10 Mbps upload for its 2K devices and says resolution can vary with available bandwidth.
- Existing doorbell wiring can provide trickle charging, according to Ring. Check the regional product page and installation instructions for the supported wiring range and compatibility before relying on a particular setup.
- Ring lists operating temperatures of -20.5°C to 48.5°C, weather resistance described as IPX, a one-year limited warranty, and software-security updates for at least four years after purchase from its website. Confirm applicable local terms on Ring’s regional pages.
Choosing between Battery Doorbell, Plus, and Pro
Choose the Battery Doorbell (2nd Gen) for the basic 2K option
The entry model combines 2K video, up to 6x zoom, and a rechargeable battery. It is the least expensive battery model at Amazon’s announced U.S. launch pricing. Choose it if those capabilities meet the job and you do not need the Plus’s Quick Release Battery Pack or the Pro’s higher-resolution camera.
Choose the Plus if quick battery removal matters
Amazon identifies the Quick Release Battery Pack as the Plus model’s distinguishing feature. That makes battery replacement more convenient than treating the entry model’s rechargeable battery as a fixed routine, but the announcement does not quantify a battery-life advantage.

Choose the Pro for 4K and greater stated zoom
The Pro is the lineup’s 4K tier and is rated by Amazon for up to 10x Enhanced Zoom. That is a specification difference, not evidence that it will deliver better identification in every doorway: positioning, lighting, network conditions, and the view of the approach still matter.
Consider wired if the site already supports it
The refreshed Wired Doorbell is a separate 2K model. Its lower launch price than the battery models does not by itself make it the better fit; installation depends on suitable existing wiring and the model’s regional requirements.

Solar accessories and mounting
Amazon announced a Ring Solar Charger at a U.S. launch price of $49.99 and a Ring Solar Panel at $59.99. Those are historical announcement prices, not verified current listings. Amazon describes the Solar Charger as integrating with the mounting design so the doorbell sits on top. It describes the Solar Panel as extending Quick Release Battery Pack life and allowing flexible positioning. Amazon names the refreshed Battery Doorbell Pro (2nd Gen), Plus (2nd Gen), and Battery Doorbell (2nd Gen) as compatible with the new accessories. Confirm that a specific accessory fits the exact model and mounting location before buying or specifying it.
Recording, history, and AI features require a plan check
Ring says a compatible subscription is needed to review, save, and share recordings, and its product page lists up to 180 days of history. Amazon describes Ring AI Pro as offering Video Descriptions, Video Search, up to 180 days of history, and Extended Live View. These are plan-dependent features, not simply capabilities included with the doorbell hardware. Subscription names, terms, and availability can vary by region and change over time, so verify the current local plan before choosing a model on the assumption that recordings or AI tools are included.

Do not confuse this with the 2024 Battery Doorbell
The 2026 Battery Doorbell 2K (2nd Gen) is distinct from the earlier Battery Doorbell Ring announced on August 21, 2024. That earlier product was HD, had a 150° × 150° field of view, color night vision, and a push-pin mount. Ring claimed up to 23% longer battery life than its predecessor under commonly used settings, and said its view was 66% taller than the preceding Video Doorbell (2nd Gen). Those are Ring’s 2024 manufacturer claims about the earlier device; they do not describe the 2026 2K refresh. See Ring’s 2024 announcement for that generation’s details.
