Inside Steven Spielberg’s Reported Real Estate Portfolio

A reported $200 million estimate spans a redesigned Pacific Palisades home, East Hampton properties, a Manhattan apartment, Malibu, and an equestrian ranch—but it is not a verified appraisal.

Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw’s real estate holdings have been estimated at at least $200 million, but that figure is a secondary estimate—not a verified appraisal. The properties reported over the years range from a heavily redesigned Pacific Palisades home to a Manhattan apartment and an equestrian ranch; some are past holdings, and the available reporting does not establish a complete current inventory.

How much is Steven Spielberg’s real estate portfolio worth?

Celebrity Net Worth estimates that Spielberg and Capshaw own at least $200 million in real estate, but its page does not provide a formal appraisal or transparent calculation behind the total. It also speculates that the Pacific Palisades compound alone could be worth $150 million to $250 million—a broad range, not a documented sale price. Treat the $200 million figure as an estimate rather than a confirmed current value. Celebrity Net Worth; Architectural Digest.

Where does Steven Spielberg live?

Pacific Palisades: a transformed hillside home

Architectural Digest identifies the Pacific Palisades property as the couple’s longtime primary residence. Spielberg found the Spanish-style house on a three-acre hillside in 1985. The original structure and earlier additions totaled about 10,000 square feet; Spielberg and architect Harry Newman reworked the home, bringing it to almost 20,000 square feet.

The home’s reported features include a guesthouse, study, connecting spiral ramp, hobbit-themed TV room, and curved 14,000-gallon aquarium. A vineyard was added in 2013. In describing the renovation, Spielberg told Architectural Digest: “The only difference between redoing the house and making a film,” says Steven Spielberg, “is that I paid for it.” He also said he was drawn to the site and location, likening the discovery to finding “the perfect cove.” Architectural Digest.

Does Steven Spielberg own a house in the Hamptons?

East Hampton: a barn adapted as a home

Architectural Digest describes a 3.9-acre East Hampton compound whose main building was adapted from an 18th-century Dutch barn and later called Quelle Barn by the family. Architect Charles Gwathmey designed a cedar-shingle guesthouse; after Spielberg acquired additional land, the property also gained a second guesthouse, a garage with staff rooms above, and stables.

A separate, three-acre pond-front East Hampton property should not be confused with that compound: Architectural Digest reports it was bought for $20 million in 2008 and sold for $21.25 million in 2014. Those are reported transaction prices for that separate property, not the value of the remaining compound. Architectural Digest.

Other reported properties and transactions

Manhattan: an apartment at the San Remo

Architectural Digest reports a 6,000-square-foot apartment on the 17th floor of the San Remo, overlooking Central Park West. The publication says the purchase date and price are unclear, so no acquisition figure is established.

Malibu: a beachfront compound later sold

Architectural Digest reports that Spielberg bought two Malibu parcels: one for $3.375 million in 1989 and another for $3.2 million in 2000. Together they comprised 1.41 acres, according to that account. The compound was sold off-market for $26 million in 2015. Realtor.com describes the beachfront property using somewhat different area and frontage details, so the measurements should be understood as source-reported rather than combined into a single definitive specification. Rank #3

Dogwood: a specialized equestrian ranch

The Los Angeles Times reported that Spielberg bought a 2.8-acre Brentwood horse ranch in 1999 for $5.75 million, citing the riding ring and trail access among the reasons for the purchase. Realtor.com reported on September 10, 2026, that Spielberg and Capshaw had listed the property, identified as Dogwood, for $29.9 million. That is an asking price reported on that date, not a completed sale price; listing status can change.

Realtor.com’s reported features include a seven-bedroom main house, a six-stall barn, a second four-stall barn, and a 20,000-square-foot riding arena. These amenities make Dogwood distinct from a conventional residential estate: its reported improvements serve equestrian use as well as household living. Los Angeles Times; Realtor.com.

What the property record does—and does not—show

Architectural Digest says Spielberg and Capshaw also bought and sold properties in Naples, Florida, but the available details are sparse. The sources do not establish a comprehensive count of their homes, verify present ownership of every reported holding, or provide an independently calculated aggregate value. The clearest way to read the reported figures is to keep completed sales, asking prices, and broad estimates separate.
