WOOD Magazine’s project page provides fully dimensional drawings and lists overall dimensions of about 18 inches long, 10 inches wide, and 9 inches tall. The project was designed by professional toymaker Steve Baldwin and first appeared in WOOD Issue 92 in November 1996; the project page was updated January 16, 2024.
What does the Farm Truck woodworking plan include?
The drawings cover the truck’s parts and are fully dimensioned, so they provide a basis for laying out and cutting the components. The project is divided into the chassis and cab, truck box, headlights, and hubcaps. Woodcraft separately lists a physical paper plan, model MD-00039, and describes it as a paper plan with materials excluded. Check the listing for current availability and terms.
The plan is a build reference, not a packaged supply of wood, hardware, or a completed vehicle. Use the plan itself as the authority for cut sizes and other build details before purchasing materials.
Are the wheels included or made from the plan?
The truck uses spoked wheels, but WOOD’s project page says its wheel buying guide does not include instructions for making the wheels. Builders should therefore plan to buy suitable wheels or find another compatible source; confirm axle and wheel dimensions before committing to an alternative.

What wood and tools does the project call for?
The materials list names walnut, cherry, oak, maple, and dowel stock. It does not make an unsized generic lumber bundle a guaranteed fit: consult the plan’s complete bill of materials and cut dimensions before buying stock.
The described work includes drilling holes, laminating stock for the hood, shaping parts, bandsawing, routing, sanding, assembling the stake bed, and applying a clear finish. These operations require appropriate shop tools and careful setup. The available project information does not establish a formal skill rating or certify the instructions as a complete safety guide.

Before starting, confirm that you have suitable hardwood and dowel stock, access to the tools needed for the operations, and a plan for sourcing compatible spoked wheels. The WOOD project dates to 1996, while its current project page carries a 2024 update; follow the plan’s dimensions rather than relying on a product name alone.
