H2OME was presented as a custom luxury residence designed to sit on the seabed, but available sources do not independently confirm that one was built, delivered, or is still for sale. A 2014 report described a two-level design with about 3,600 square feet of living space; U.S. Submarine Structures’ materials outline a site-specific design and construction process, not a verified completed home.
What was the H2OME underwater home?
In a September 5, 2014 report, Anthony Wood of New Atlas described H2OME as a proposed two-level residence for the seabed, with approximately 340 square metres (3,600 square feet) of living space and large acrylic viewing panels. The report said the design was intended for water depths of 10–18 metres (33–59 feet).
U.S. Submarine Structures presents H2OME on its product page as an undersea residence accessed by elevator or stairs, and says the interior remains at surface pressure. These are the vendor’s descriptions of the design; they are not independent confirmation of its performance or construction.
How would a seabed residence be built?
The vendor’s brochure describes a custom project sequence: assess the site’s feasibility, analyze the seabed, develop a project-specific design, fabricate and assemble the structure, then transport and install it using heavy-lift equipment. The brochure gives a typical build duration of 18 months to two years. That is the company’s estimate, not a documented H2OME delivery schedule.

The reported concept also depended on infrastructure beyond the residence itself. New Atlas described access from a pier and shore connections for water, electricity, and sewage. In practical terms, a buyer would need a suitable site and a plan for access and services, not simply a house placed on the ocean floor.
How much would H2OME cost?
The figures published for H2OME are historical estimates, not current quotes. They vary by source and describe different budget contexts.

The sources reviewed do not independently establish that a H2OME was constructed, delivered, or remains available. The 2014 coverage reported a commercial offering, and the company’s product and brochure materials describe the concept and its proposed process. Neither establishes a completed residential installation.

There is evidence of contemporary subsea habitation projects, but it does not verify H2OME. In 2026, Unique Group reported engineering work supporting DEEP’s Vanguard habitat, installed in the Florida Keys for research and operational missions. Vanguard’s project page describes a distinct scientific habitat, not a private luxury residence or a H2OME installation.
