Make a large infinity mirror from a wooden frame, a rear acrylic mirror, LED lights and a clear acrylic front panel covered with one-way mirror film. The lights sit between the reflective surfaces, creating the illusion of a tunnel of repeating lights. Make: designer Lila Becker estimates 1–2 days for this build; that is the project page’s estimate, not a measured average.
How the infinity mirror works
The rear panel is a mirror. The front is clear acrylic with one-way mirror privacy film applied to it. With the film facing inward and the lights between the two panels, reflections appear to recede into the frame. This build uses LED Christmas lights; the source does not report measured optical performance or compare film and panel options.

- Black tape or a black project box to conceal excess lights outside the frame
Becker used Gila Privacy Control Mirror window film. The project describes electronically controlled Christmas lights as available year-round through online sellers, but does not identify a tested product model or establish current stock or pricing.

Build the 72 × 25½-inch frame
1. Cut and assemble the wood
Cut two 24-inch pieces and two 72-inch pieces from nominal 1×4 lumber. Nominal 1×4 boards actually measure ¾ × 3½ inches. Place the short boards inside the long boards and join the pieces into a rectangle measuring 72 × 25½ inches.

2. Paint the frame and make a cord notch
Spray-paint the frame matte black. Near one end of a short board, use a round file to make a notch large enough to route the light plug through.
3. Install the lights
Staple the LED light wire around the inside midpoint of the frame boards, positioning the bulbs toward the center. Route the plug through the notch. Becker suggests choosing a color or lights that blink or change hues; the project provides no comparative performance testing for those options.

4. Prepare the filmed front panel
Drill and countersink 12 evenly spaced mounting holes in the clear acrylic sheet. Apply the one-way mirror privacy film to the countersunk side, following the film manufacturer’s directions and working carefully to avoid bubbles.
5. Fit the rear mirror
Drill matching holes in the acrylic mirror and countersink them on its backing side. Fasten the mirror to the frame with the mirrored face pointing inward.

6. Close the frame with the front panel
Mount the filmed clear acrylic opposite the rear mirror, with the film facing into the frame. The lights should now sit between the reflective surfaces.
7. Hide extra lights
Use black tape or a black project box to conceal any light string extending beyond the frame.

Choose a wall, door or tabletop display
The project supports hanging the mirror on a wall or door, or adapting it into a tabletop. For a table, use six legs, each attached with two standard brackets at least 8 inches long. The beer-pong variation uses 23½-inch legs to make a 27½-inch-high table; the article describes that design as about 6 × 2 feet.
