Chrome Unboxed reported the Nest Doorbell (Battery) at $129.99 at Best Buy and Walmart on April 11, 2026. That figure is historical sale pricing. It does not establish that either retailer still has the doorbell at that price in September 2026.
For current context, Google’s U.S. specifications page showed $199.99 when checked on September 28, 2026. 9to5Google reported that Google raised the U.S. list price from $179.99 to $199.99 effective August 31, attributing the change to “rising component costs.”

These are Google’s published specifications, not independent performance measurements. The wired model provides more resolution and a wider diagonal view, while the battery model is easier to install where wiring is absent or unsuitable.

Is the Nest Doorbell battery powered?
Yes. The doorbell can run from its rechargeable 6 Ah, 3.65 V lithium-ion battery, so you do not need an existing doorbell circuit for basic operation. Google lists an operating range of −20°C to 40°C and says charging requires temperatures above 0°C.
Does it work with existing wiring?
It can connect to 8–24 VAC wiring rated at 10 VA and 50–60 Hz. Confirm your transformer and chime meet those requirements before installation. Google says battery-only operation remains possible when the existing wiring is incompatible.

Will it ring an existing doorbell chime?
Not when the doorbell is operating solely on battery power. Google’s specifications state that an existing wired chime will not ring in that configuration. A compatible wired connection can provide charging and support the chime, subject to the transformer and chime setup.
Installation and setup requirements
- Check the power choice. Decide between battery operation and a wired connection. For wired installation, verify 8–24 VAC, 10 VA, 50–60 Hz service and chime compatibility.
- Prepare the network. Google lists Wi-Fi, broadband and at least 2 Mbps upload speed as requirements. Network or service interruptions can stop alerts and video history.
- Install the Google Home app. Setup requires a compatible mobile device, the Google Home app and a Google Account.
- Mount and configure the doorbell. Follow the in-app setup flow, select the correct power arrangement and test live view, motion alerts and chime behavior before finishing the installation.
The second-generation battery doorbell is managed in Google Home. It is not compatible with the Nest app or home.nest.com.

Video quality and storage
Google lists 960 × 1280 video at up to 30 FPS, a 145° diagonal field of view and three hours of included event video history. The 3:4 framing is taller than the wired model’s 1:1 view, which can help keep a visitor’s full body or a package in frame.
Google’s product page also describes 30 days of event history with a Standard plan and 60 days with an Advanced plan. However, Google’s subscription-help information says Google Home Premium is unavailable for this battery doorbell. Because those official pages conflict, verify that the specific doorbell and plan are eligible before buying a subscription for longer history.

Is the $129.99 price still available?
There is no verified evidence here that the April 11, 2026 $129.99 promotion is still running. Retailer inventory, sellers and regional pricing can change. Treat $129.99 as a historical deal unless a current Best Buy or Walmart listing independently shows that price at checkout.
