That is 27.94 × 35.56 cm (279.4 × 355.6 mm). Turn the same rectangle sideways and it is 14×11 landscape. For an edge-to-edge print, look for a frame with an 11×14 image opening; for a mat, a common pairing is a 16×20 frame.
What are the dimensions of 11×14?
The nominal dimensions are 11 inches by 14 inches. Using 2.54 centimetres per inch, the exact conversion is 27.94 × 35.56 cm, or 279.4 × 355.6 mm. Rounded for everyday reference, that is about 27.9 × 35.6 cm (often rounded further to 28 × 36 cm) or 279 × 356 mm.
11×14 is a common size for photo and art prints and for frames intended to hold them. The listed size is nominal: the finished print or a frame’s internal opening may vary slightly, so measure the actual print and check the maker’s specifications when fit matters. Is 11×14 the same as 14×11?
Yes. They describe the same rectangular dimensions in different orientations: 11×14 is usually written for portrait, with the 14-inch edge vertical; 14×11 is landscape, with the 14-inch edge horizontal. Confirm the orientation before ordering a print, frame, or mat, especially if the image is not square.

What frame fits an 11×14 print?
For an edge-to-edge display
Choose a frame labelled for an 11×14 print and verify its image opening or rabbet dimensions. The size on the label generally refers to the print it is intended to hold, not the frame’s outside dimensions. The moulding makes the outside measurement larger, and the actual interior fit can vary by manufacturer.
For a matted display
A 16×20 frame is a commonly listed pairing for an 11×14 print. The mat opening is intentionally smaller than the print, overlapping its edges to keep the sheet in place. Check that the frame and mat are specified for an 11×14 image; do not assume the frame’s outside dimensions indicate the opening. How many pixels do you need for an 11×14 print?
At 300 pixels per inch (PPI), the planning dimensions are 3,300 × 4,200 pixels: 11 × 300 by 14 × 300. This is a target calculation, not a guarantee of print quality or exact output. The print lab may apply its own crop, border, bleed, file-size, or cutting requirements, and finished dimensions can vary with lab, paper, border settings, and cutting tolerance. Will an 11×14 print crop my photo?
It depends on the source image’s aspect ratio. An 11×14 print has a portrait ratio of 11:14, or about 0.786. That shape differs from common 3:2 camera images, 4:3 phone images, and 4:5 images used for 8×10 prints. To fill the paper, some edges may need to be cropped. If the whole image must remain visible, use a border or letterboxing instead, subject to the print lab’s options.

Before printing, check the crop preview and keep important subjects or text away from the edges. Rotating the print to 14×11 changes its orientation, not its aspect ratio; it does not by itself eliminate a mismatch between the source image and the paper.

Before ordering a print or frame
- Measure the physical print, including any white or decorative border.
- Decide whether it should sit edge to edge or be displayed behind a mat.
