Food Network and The Kitchn each named it their top pick in separate hands-on comparisons. There is no universal winner, though: Epicurious chose the Anolon Triply Clad roaster. The right pan depends on what you cook, how much oven and storage space you have, and whether you want a stovetop-ready pan for gravy.
These seven options come from different reviews and product guides, not one shared test. Use the picks below as a practical shortlist, then check the exact model’s dimensions, temperature limit, care instructions, and stovetop compatibility before buying.
At a glance: seven roasting pans to consider
| Pan | Best for | What the cited source says |
|---|---|---|
| Cuisinart MultiClad Pro 16-inch with rack | Best overall | Top pick in separate Food Network (2026) and The Kitchn (updated 2025) tests. |
| Anolon Triply Clad Stainless Steel Roaster with Nonstick Rack | Best alternative for browning | Epicurious’s 2024 overall pick; its test reported strong vegetable browning. |
| Farberware 12 x 16-inch Nonstick Roaster | Budget pick | The Kitchn’s budget choice; lighter than its tested competitors, but thinner and less even where food contacted the pan. |
| Caraway Roasting Pan | Nonstick | Selected as a nonstick pick by Food Network and The Kitchn; both report easy cleanup, with model-specific temperature claims that differ. |
| All-Clad D3 Stainless-Steel Flared Roasting Pan with Rack | Premium stainless | Food Network’s splurge pick; check the precise model’s stovetop compatibility, especially for induction. |
| Hestan Provisions Brushed Stainless-Steel Classic Roaster with Rack | Large turkey | Homes & Gardens lists it for turkey and reports capacity for a bird up to 20 pounds. |
| Staub Cast Iron Roaster | Cast iron and casseroles | Homes & Gardens lists it as a cast-iron and lasagna option; confirm the exact model’s size and care requirements. |
The first four have roles supported by hands-on review articles. The Hestan and Staub entries are category picks from a separate buying guide, not products shown to have been tested alongside the others.
How to choose a roasting pan
Start with the food and the oven
A dedicated roasting pan earns its space when you regularly cook large birds, a rack of lamb, or another oversized roast. For an ordinary chicken or tenderloin, a skillet may be enough. Tramontina’s guidance suggests a 14-inch pan for chickens and smaller roasts, and a 16-inch-or-larger pan for turkeys up to 20 pounds. It also recommends leaving about an inch around the roast for airflow. Check the pan’s usable interior dimensions—not just its listed exterior size—and make sure it fits your oven with room for air circulation.

- Marks on Various Surfaces: 3 colors solid construction pencil can marks on various surfaces, such as metal, plastic, wood, paper etc. Ideals for woodworkers, contractors, craftsmen, builders, merchants and masons
Also think about storage. A large roaster is useful for holiday meals and vegetables, but it takes up cabinet space the rest of the year.
Choose a material for how you cook
- Clad or stainless steel: The Cuisinart’s layered construction is credited by The Kitchn with steady heat transfer. Stainless pans can brown well, and a flat, compatible base may be useful for making gravy on the stovetop. A loaded metal pan can be heavy, so handle design matters.
- Nonstick: Food may release and clean up more easily, but temperature limits and utensil guidance vary by exact model. The Kitchn says not to use metal utensils on its Caraway pick. In Food Network’s test, nonstick pans tended to over-brown vegetables, with its tested Caraway model an exception.
- Cast iron or stoneware: These are distinct alternatives for cooks who want a different roasting or casserole vessel. The Homes & Gardens guide names Staub cast iron and stoneware selections, but does not establish that they were part of the same hands-on comparison as the stainless picks.
Look at rack shape and clearance
A rack lifts meat above its drippings and can leave space for vegetables underneath. Food Network’s lead recipe developer Amanda Neal favors a V-shaped rack because it can hold birds of different sizes without tipping and leave room for vegetables. Food Network executive chef Ginevra Iverson cautions that some U-shaped racks leave too little room for mirepoix and make basting harder. Shape is not the whole story: The Kitchn found the elevated, sturdy U-shaped rack supplied with its Cuisinart pick worked well. Look for stability, clearance, and a rack that is easy to remove.
Plan for safe lifting and cleanup
Test the handle grip with oven mitts in mind, and remember that a roast and its juices add substantial weight. Food Network reports that its top choices weighed under 10 pounds empty; The Kitchn gives its Cuisinart pick as 7 pounds 11 ounces. Those figures come from different reviews and measurement contexts, so they are not a head-to-head weight comparison.

Care instructions can conflict across listings and reviews. For example, The Kitchn says its tested Cuisinart model is not dishwasher-safe, while Cuisinart’s catalog describes its roasting pans generally as dishwasher-safe; Food Network advises avoiding lemon-based detergent if washing that model in a dishwasher. Follow the manual for the exact SKU. Stovetop compatibility also varies: All-Clad notes that some stainless and tri-ply roasting pans are not induction-compatible.

1. Cuisinart MultiClad Pro 16-inch Roasting Pan with Rack — best overall
This is the strongest starting point for an all-purpose stainless roaster: Food Network’s February 2026 comparison and The Kitchn’s review updated in November 2025 both chose it as their overall winner. Food Network praised its flat bottom, straight sides, V-shaped rack, even cooking, and hand cleanup. The Kitchn noted its aluminum core surrounded by stainless steel, secure handles, sturdy rack, and usefulness for stovetop gravy.
Published dimensions and weights differ between the two articles. Food Network gives 16 by 12 inches excluding handles and reports 10 pounds; The Kitchn gives 12 by 19 by 5.25 inches and 7 pounds 11 ounces. 2. Anolon Triply Clad Stainless Steel Roaster with Nonstick Rack — best alternative for browning
Choose this if the Epicurious test’s emphasis on browning appeals to you. In its 2024 comparison of 11 models across several materials, Epicurious named the Anolon its overall pick and reported strong vegetable browning. The review describes a rack suited to a turkey up to 20 pounds, a 500°F oven limit, and a pan that is not broiler-safe. It reports a weight of 10.6 pounds and lifetime warranties for the pan and rack; verify the current product, warranty terms, and instructions before purchase.
3. Farberware 12 x 16-inch Nonstick Roaster — best budget option
The Kitchn selected this as its budget pick. At 5 pounds 5 ounces in that review, it was lighter than the other pans tested there and performed well for chicken and vegetables. The trade-off was a thinner pan and less even cooking where food touched the surface. The review states a 450°F maximum and recommends hand washing.

Food Network names this All-Clad model as its splurge selection. It may suit cooks who want a premium stainless-steel roaster, particularly if they expect to use the pan for more than oven roasting. Do not assume every model works on every cooktop: All-Clad says some stainless and tri-ply pans exclude induction, so verify the exact product’s compatibility.
6. Hestan Provisions Brushed Stainless-Steel Classic Roaster with Rack — large-turkey option
Homes & Gardens recommends this as its best turkey pan and reports a 16.5-inch size, capacity for a turkey up to 20 pounds, induction compatibility, and oven- and broiler-safety to 600°F. 7. Staub Cast Iron Roaster — cast-iron and casserole option
Homes & Gardens includes the Staub Cast Iron Roaster as a cast-iron and lasagna choice. What the tests can—and cannot—tell you
The top picks are useful evidence, but the reviews used different methods. Food Network says it assessed 13 well-reviewed pans in February 2026, roasting 5- to 6-pound chickens with root vegetables, testing two-burner water heating and pouring, and hand-cleaning each pan. The Kitchn’s November 2025 review describes roasting a 4- to 6-pound chicken with two pounds of vegetables per pan and making gravy across two burners; its headline refers to 25 pounds of chicken. Epicurious tested 11 models in 2024 across nonstick, stainless steel, aluminum, and ceramic categories.
These are not seven products compared in one shared bakeoff. Food Network and The Kitchn favor the Cuisinart MultiClad Pro, while Epicurious favors the Anolon. Their choices reflect different samples, dates, and criteria, so use each review’s findings alongside your own size, cooking, and care requirements.
