LG’s first clearly dedicated frame-style art TV is now here. The LG Gallery TV AI with Frame (LX7B series) is a wall-mountable 4K Mini-LED/QNED television with a matte screen, attachable decorative frame and Gallery+ artwork service. It is not an OLED. LG is targeting the lifestyle-TV category Samsung established with The Frame, while using its own webOS platform and Mini-LED hardware.
That makes the Gallery TV a credible new rival, not automatically a better television. The right choice depends on whether a framed object, reduced reflections and art software matter more to you than OLED-level cinema performance or the most mature art-TV ecosystem.
What is the LG Gallery TV?
LG announced the Gallery TV on December 30, 2025, for CES 2026. In the United States it belongs to the LX7B family; LG lists the 55-inch 55LX7BPUA and a 65-inch version. The television is a 4K LCD using Mini-LED backlighting and LG’s QNED colour system, rather than an emissive OLED panel. See the U.S. product page for the listed specification.
- Design: an attachable Snow White frame is listed as included in the U.S.; other finishes are sold separately and can vary by market.
- Display: Mini-LED/QNED 4K with LG’s Dynamic QNED Color, claimed 100% Color Volume certification and a matte display intended to minimise reflections.
- Processing: alpha 7 AI Processor 4K Gen9 with LG’s picture-processing features.
- Placement: designed for wall mounting, with an adjustable stand option.
- Software: webOS for normal TV and streaming use, plus Gallery+ for artwork, personal images and supported AI-generated visuals.
LG describes the matte treatment as reflection reduction, not reflection elimination. Windows, lamps and room light can still affect the image. The product’s design information and regional caveats are outlined in LG’s art-TV buying guide.

Why did LG enter the category now?
Samsung made the framed television a recognisable product category with The Frame: a normal smart TV that displays art when it is not being watched, with interchangeable bezels and a paid Art Store. Samsung’s 2025 lineup included both The Frame and The Frame Pro, and its 2026 announcement continues that strategy. The company’s category history is documented in its 2025 announcement and 2026 announcement.
LG was not absent from art-related television. It has offered Gallery Mode, thin “Gallery Design” OLED models and other lifestyle displays. What it had not offered was a product whose central physical idea was “a framed picture on the wall.” The LX7B is therefore best described as LG’s first dedicated frame-style rival to The Frame, not LG’s first art-oriented television of any kind.
Gallery+ is part of the product
LG currently advertises more than 5,000 artworks for Gallery+, although its launch announcement used a lower figure. That count is a moving service description, not a permanent hardware specification. The library includes curated art and photography, and the system can also display personal photos or user-supplied images. Profiles and recommendations, plus AI-generated visuals where supported, are described in LG’s launch materials.

Availability is country-, model- and service-dependent. LG’s Canadian product page mentions a one-month trial and automatic renewal unless cancelled; LG also announced a complimentary three-month promotion for select markets, including the United States, during the 2026 rollout. Check the terms for your exact region before treating a trial as a lasting benefit. The Canadian product page and LG support guide explain the service model.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteLG says an internet connection and Gallery+ subscription are required for select features; its regional pages describe a subscription for full content and features. That does not establish that every gallery or personal-photo function disappears when a subscription ends. Separate the ownership decision into the TV’s ordinary channels and apps, free or built-in gallery content, premium Gallery+ material, personal images and any supported AI features.
Why Mini-LED instead of OLED?
Many buyers associate LG primarily with OLED, so the panel choice matters. The dedicated Gallery TV is Mini-LED/QNED. LG’s 2026 art-TV family separates three jobs: the framed Gallery TV, the flush-fitting OLED evo G6 and the near-wallpaper OLED evo W6, as described in LG’s Art TV lineup announcement.

Mini-LED can provide high brightness and local dimming without OLED’s organic pixels. That appears suited to an always-visible product used in bright rooms and for long periods of static artwork, although LG has not published an engineering explanation that proves this was the sole reason for the choice. OLED remains the stronger starting point for pixel-level blacks and dark-room contrast. No independent measurements are available here for brightness, blooming, colour accuracy, viewing angles, input lag or Gallery Mode behaviour.

| Distinctive proposition | Newer Mini-LED rival, webOS and Gallery+ | Longer category history and established Art Store ecosystem |

Samsung’s 2026 launch announcement lists $1,199.99 for a 55-inch The Frame and $1,499.99 for a 55-inch The Frame Pro. Do not compare those launch figures with a temporary retailer discount without labelling both. Samsung’s product and Art Store details are on its 55-inch product page and Art Store page.
What the price really buys
On LG’s U.S. page captured August 16, 2026, the 55-inch was shown at a $1,299.99 regular price and a $999.99 promotion; the 65-inch was shown at $1,799.99 regular and $1,199.99 promotion. LG warns that prices, availability, quantities and promotions can change. Budget for more than the television:

Installation checks before you buy
- Confirm the wall: verify structure, fixings and mount compatibility for the TV’s weight.
- Set viewing height: a picture may be hung higher than a conventional television, but eye-level comfort still matters for daily viewing.
- Measure the finished profile: include frame depth, wall clearance, stand geometry and cable bends.
- Plan cables: decide where power and HDMI leads will run before the mount goes up.
- Choose stand or wall: the adjustable stand can suit renters or furniture-based placement.
- Check local accessories: verify that the frame colour you want is actually stocked in your country.
- Review software behaviour: confirm Gallery Mode, standby, screen timeout, energy-saving and any motion activation on the exact model and firmware.
Who should buy the LG Gallery TV?
Choose LG if the room is design-first
Buy it when the screen remains visible all day, a framed appearance is central, the room is bright, and LG webOS fits your household. It is also the more direct choice if you specifically want a Mini-LED art TV rather than an OLED used occasionally in gallery mode.
Choose Samsung The Frame if ecosystem maturity leads
Samsung remains the safer choice for buyers who prioritise the established Frame identity, a particular Samsung bezel, Art Store familiarity, The Frame Pro’s Wireless One Connect option, or a discount that makes the comparable model substantially cheaper.

Choose a conventional LG OLED for cinema or gaming
A regular OLED is the better fit for a dedicated media room, frequent movie watching in controlled light, gaming priorities, perfect-black performance and a flush or minimal wall appearance. Art mode should be an occasional bonus rather than the reason to compromise.
Consider a cheaper canvas-style TV when art matters more than picture quality
If decorative display is the main goal and you want to avoid a recurring premium art service, a lower-cost competitor may make more sense. Current prices and specifications for those alternatives are not established here, so verify them directly before buying.
What remains unproven
Official pages establish the LX7B’s design, claimed features, service model and price signals, but they do not prove real-world superiority. An independent review should measure brightness, black levels, blooming, reflection handling, colour accuracy in Gallery Mode, input lag, refresh rate, viewing angles, mounting difficulty, software responsiveness and whether its art mode behaves like Samsung’s motion-sensor workflow.
Mini-LED also does not make static artwork risk-free. It avoids OLED’s organic pixel-aging mechanism, but every display can develop defects, backlight issues or software limitations. Read the exact warranty and support terms rather than treating the panel type as a durability guarantee.
Verdict
LG has finally made the direct Frame-style competitor many buyers expected: a framed, matte Mini-LED TV with an art service, not an OLED disguised as one. Its appeal is strongest for design-conscious owners who want the television to function as a wall object in a bright living space. Samsung still has the more established art-TV ecosystem, while a conventional LG OLED remains the more logical purchase for cinema and gaming. The Gallery TV is worth considering when its frame, Gallery+ catalogue and current price justify the ongoing service cost—not simply because it is new.
