Check the official PMGSY programme portal and its Online Monitoring and Management System (OMMS), then match the road record against the project’s worksite information board and, where needed, the relevant implementation unit’s records. Use more than one identifier: a village name alone may not identify a particular road or package.
Where to look for PMGSY project information
The National Rural Infrastructure Development Agency (NRIDA) says programme information and details of individual works are available through the PMGSY programme website and OMMS. NRIDA’s operational checklist describes a route through District Reports and then DP: District Profile for district implementation information. See the NRIDA FAQ and the area-officer checklist.
Portal labels and search fields can change. The checklist is guidance on a reported route, not confirmation that the same interface or a universal road-search form is available today.
How to find the matching road or work record
- Open the official PMGSY portal and follow its OMMS or reports entry point. Choose the state and district if requested.
- Use the identifiers available in the current report to narrow the result. Compare the road or work name with the village or habitation, block, district, package number, programme phase, and executing agency. Match several details where possible; village names are not necessarily unique.
- Record the exact identifiers shown in the result, including the package number and phase if listed. These make it easier to ask the implementation unit about the same work if information is unclear.
NRIDA describes OMMS as a web-based reporting system into which field-level staff and State units enter data. A matching OMMS entry is evidence that the work is reported as associated with PMGSY; it is not, on its own, an independent inspection or proof of the road’s present condition.

How to identify the contractor, cost, and completion schedule
Check the road’s general information board at the worksite and compare it with the portal record. NRIDA says the board displays the executing agency, contractor, estimated cost, and time for completion. The Citizen Information Board is in the local language and describes the work. Photograph or transcribe the displayed road and package identifiers so you can compare the same project across sources.
For binding details—including the contracted scope, dates, payment terms, maintenance responsibilities, or amendments—seek the specific tender or agreement and any amendments for that work. NRIDA’s documents index lists general programme and procurement materials, such as standard bidding documents and maintenance guidance; those materials are not a substitute for the project-specific contract.

How to cross-check progress and resolve conflicting information
NRIDA’s checklist recommends comparing phase-wise progress in OMMS with the PIU’s latest Monthly Progress Report. This can reveal inconsistencies between reporting channels, but it does not independently verify physical condition or certify that work has been completed as reported.
- Check that the road, package, and district refer to the same work.
- Compare the record’s programme phase and date with the latest available PIU report.
- Compare the named executing agency and contractor, estimated cost, and completion schedule with the worksite board and project-specific documents.
If the portal result is missing, incomplete, or appears to describe a different road, treat the match as unresolved—not as proof that the road is outside PMGSY. Contact the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) or the relevant State Rural Roads Development Agency. Provide the road name, village or habitation, block, district, and any package number together, and ask them to confirm the correct work record.

What PMGSY coverage does—and does not—tell you
NRIDA’s FAQ describes a project pipeline involving selection from stated priority lists, scrutiny by State Technical Agencies and the State Rural Roads Development Agency, sample scrutiny by NRIDA, and consideration by the Empowered Committee before clearance. A correctly matched OMMS record is useful evidence of reported programme association, but general portal information cannot settle every ambiguous name match or replace the work-specific agreement.
NRIDA’s FAQ also says that, under contract provisions, a contractor is liable for defects through five years after completion of road work. The FAQ does not establish the terms of every individual project agreement; check the specific contract and amendments before relying on that period for a particular road.
