A flag case can mean a physical case for displaying, presenting, transporting, or storing a flag—or a Salesforce software component that marks a case record as flagged. This guide covers the physical products first, then explains the software meaning so you can identify the right one.
What a physical flag case is for
Flag cases are not one standard product. Their shape and construction depend on whether the flag is being presented at a ceremony, displayed as a folded keepsake, or transported with a pole.

The American Legion Emblem Sales 2026 catalog separates these uses. It lists a heavy-vinyl, zipped “Flag Presentation Case” for presentation to next of kin and later storage, plus a separate sturdy case for storing or shipping two flags and poles.
Match the case to your flag’s size
Do not assume that a case labeled “flag case” fits every flag. The flag’s original dimensions and its folded package are both relevant. A case for a 5 ft × 9.5 ft burial flag is not automatically suitable for a 3 ft × 5 ft flag, and a long transport case is not a substitute for a triangular display case.

Measure before ordering
- Identify the flag’s unfolded dimensions from its label, purchase record or manufacturer.
- Fold it using the intended method and measure the finished length, height and thickness.
- Compare those measurements with the case’s interior dimensions, not merely its outside dimensions.
- Allow for any sleeve, mounting insert or protective wrapping that will remain inside the case.
If a listing gives only the original flag size and not the usable interior, ask the seller for the internal measurements before buying.
Construction and materials vary
Product descriptions document different approaches, but they are not independent tests of durability, longevity or craftsmanship. Hobby Lobby’s listed triangular case has an MDF body and a glass panel. FlagCo lists multiple display styles and materials. The American Legion’s presentation case is described as heavy vinyl with a zipper.

Choose a presentation case when

Choose a triangular display case when
The folded flag will remain visible in a home, office or memorial setting. Check the case’s mounting orientation, hanging hardware and front-panel material. The cited Hobby Lobby listing explicitly states that the flag is not included, so verify contents on any listing rather than assuming a complete set.

Choose a long case when
You need to transport or store unfolded flags, spare flags or poles. Confirm the number of flags and pole length it accepts; the American Legion catalog describes a separate model for two flags and poles.
A practical buying checklist
- What is the flag’s original size and measured folded size?
- Is the case for ceremony, permanent display, transport or general storage?
- Are interior dimensions published?
- Is the front panel glass, acrylic, fabric or unspecified?
- What is the body made from, and is moisture exposure a concern?
- Does the case include hanging hardware, a stand, an insert or only the empty enclosure?
- Is the flag included? The Hobby Lobby example says it is not.
- Will the case be wall-mounted, carried flat or stored on a shelf?
- Are prices, stock and dimensions current? Retail details can change.
What “Flag Case” means in Salesforce
In Salesforce, “Flag Case” can refer to software rather than a container. Salesforce AppExchange documentation describes a component that visually signals when a Salesforce case record has been flagged. It is a user-interface function for case management, not a physical product and not a storage or display solution.
