How to tell whether a BOGO bundle is a good buy
Compare the full qualifying purchase with what you would otherwise buy. A tool described as “free” does not make the transaction a saving if it requires an unnecessary kit or battery purchase.
- Price the entire bundle. Compare the qualifying kit or battery purchase plus the included tool against the cost of the tools and batteries you actually need.
- Count batteries and check capacity. Note how many batteries are included and their amp-hour ratings; a bare tool and a kit with batteries are not equivalent packages.
- Include the charger and storage. Check whether the bundle includes a charger, bag or case, and account for those items when comparing kits.
- Match tool class to the job. An impact driver, impact wrench, grinder, jigsaw, compact router and reciprocating saw solve different tasks; choose the tool for the work rather than the promotion label.
- Check platform compatibility. Confirm that batteries work with tools you already own on the same platform, such as M18, 20V Max, ONE+ 18V or Ridgid 18V.
- Read the offer and return terms. Verify the exact qualifying item, free item, purchase conditions and return rules on the listing before checkout.
- Check local stock and final price. Online listings and store availability can vary, and holiday inventory may change.
The available reports do not establish a universal best brand or best-value platform; the right choice depends on the complete package and compatibility with your existing tools.
