Evaporative cooling relies on water evaporation and is constrained by humidity; room air conditioning uses a different cooling approach and may be a better fit when the goal is conventional room cooling or moisture removal. The DOE’s 2017 HomeCooling101 comparison says evaporative coolers use about one-quarter of the energy of a central air conditioner and cost about half as much to install. Those are broad category comparisons—not AiraBreeze measurements, current prices, or a quote for a particular home (DOE HomeCooling101).
