Why the advertised discounts are not directly comparable
A percentage discount, a fixed-dollar reduction above a minimum spend, a bundle maximum, and a retailer’s starting price describe different things. A large “up to” figure may apply only to selected items or a purchase that includes an adjustable base; a starting price may refer to a different size or model than the one you want.
Consumer Reports said in an article updated September 16, 2026, that mattress prices are commonly advertised as sales and holiday discounts tend to be 5 to 10 percent better than non-holiday discounts.
