How the two baskets work
Separate cooking in parallel
T3 describes two 4.5-litre drawers, for 9 litres of combined capacity. Each compartment can be controlled independently, allowing different foods to cook with different settings at the same time. That setup is useful when a meal has sides and mains with different cooking requirements, or when people at the table want different foods.

Smart Finish and Match Cook
T3 reports two functions intended to make dual-basket cooking simpler. Smart Finish coordinates different cooking times so both baskets finish together; Match Cook applies the same settings to both compartments. These are distinct conveniences: one is for synchronising foods with different timings, while the other is for duplicating a single set of settings.
What T3 found in use
Reviewer Rob Clymo says he cooked potato wedges and frozen salmon fishcakes using the dual-basket functions, and that the routine worked well. His review praises the capacity, preset range and ability to use different settings for two dishes. He describes the appliance as “a hugely versatile appliance.” These are the reviewer’s reported findings, not independent testing conducted for this article.

T3 also notes viewing windows and individual lights, which let the cook check progress without opening the drawers. That visibility can make it easier to monitor food while keeping the cooking process undisturbed.
What to consider before choosing it
Counter space
T3 calls the appliance large and says it needs substantial counter space. Measure the intended spot before buying, including room to access the drawers and controls; the 9-litre capacity comes with a real footprint trade-off.

Touchscreen learning curve
The reviewer reports needing some practice runs to get comfortable with the controls. T3 also says the touchscreen icons are small and that it is easy to stop the appliance accidentally. If you prefer conspicuously labelled buttons or simple controls, this is worth weighing against the benefit of its dual-basket functions.

Tower’s T17218RG page also says its Vortx technology cooks up to 30% faster than a conventional oven. That is a manufacturer claim, not an independently verified result, and it should not be applied as a tested performance figure for the T17100.

Based on T3’s findings, the T17100 makes the most sense for households that can use two substantial cooking compartments at once and have the counter space to accommodate them. Independent settings, synchronised finishing and duplicated settings offer flexibility for mixed meals. A smaller single-basket appliance may be a better fit if worktop space is tight or the touchscreen learning curve sounds frustrating.
