There is no single French press winner across recent reviews: Food Network names the Hydro Flask 32-ounce its overall pick, Bon Appétit chooses the Espro P7, and Burr & Basket favors the Bodum Chambord. Those are each publisher’s judgments, not a shared test result. This comparison organizes six reviewed models by what matters most to the buyer: insulation, cleaner filtration, classic glass brewing, larger batches, or lower cost.
How to choose a French press
Start with the cup you want, then weigh heat retention, capacity, durability, and cleanup. A standard mesh filter lets some fine grounds through, contributing to the heavier texture many French press drinkers expect. Espro’s double micro-filter designs are repeatedly noted for producing a cleaner cup, though Food Network says the P7’s fine filtration can reduce some of that traditional body.
- Filter design: Choose standard mesh for a familiar, fuller-feeling brew; consider a double micro-filter if reducing sediment matters more.
- Material: Borosilicate glass lets you see the brew but can break and loses heat more quickly than insulated stainless steel. Stainless models are more impact-resistant and retain heat better, but hide the coffee level.
- Capacity: Compare ounces rather than relying on a maker’s “cup” count. The models here range from 32 or 34 ounces to 64 ounces.
- Cleanup: Check how the filter comes apart, how easily grounds can be removed, and whether the maker permits dishwasher cleaning. Food Network assessed grounds removal and cleaning; Bon Appétit considered disassembly and care.
The six best French presses
1. Hydro Flask 32-ounce French Press — best for insulated everyday use
Food Network names this model its overall pick. Its review reports double-wall 18/8 stainless construction, dishwasher safety, and a filter that is easy to clean. In Food Network’s test, the coffee stayed above 160°F for at least an hour; that is a result from that review, not a guarantee for every brew or kitchen.
The stainless body is a practical choice if you want better heat retention and less fragile construction than glass. Its standard press experience may leave more fines than a double micro-filter design.

2. Bodum Chambord 34-ounce — best classic glass press
Food Network calls the Chambord its best classic, while Burr & Basket names it overall. It pairs a borosilicate glass carafe with a three-part mesh filter, making it easy to watch the brew and familiar to anyone who has used a traditional press.
The trade-offs are the usual ones for this style: glass is more vulnerable to breakage and does not hold heat as well as insulated stainless steel, while the mesh can allow some sediment into the cup.
Rank #2
- Superior Filtration: A solid filtration system in a coffee maker ensures a refined taste and robust flavor mouthfeel. Our 4-filter sieve system has an improved piston plate and 80 mesh filter that extracts the earthy, rich taste of residue-free coffee. This 1000 ml/34 Oz beaker makes 4 cups of creamier & tastier coffee.
- Durable Borosilicate Glass: The French press glass is expertly made to withstand rapid temperature changes. It is resistant to outside odors or chemical changes and maintains the original odor and flavor, allowing you to savor the natural coffee taste. The sturdy material and super-compact design ensure easy handling and durability in the long run.
- Easy to Use: The French press comes with a coffee spoon and is convenient for quick coffee making. Brew homemade coffee in just four easy steps; add coarse ground coffee, add hot water and stir, wait a few minutes, and press to enjoy a refined flavored cup of coffee.
- Versatility: The French press works great for coffee and is suitable for tea, hot chocolate, cold brew, cappuccino, or to make tea blends at home. It comes in handy to use at home, hostel, hotel, and camping sites or for parties, weddings, and celebrations. The compact design and ergonomic handle make it easy to handle & carry around. Plus, it is an amazing gift for coffee lovers.
- Care Instructions: It is recommended to hand-wash the lid with a light detergent & avoid using rough scrubbers to keep the finish scratch-free. The glass beaker, plunger, and filter are dishwasher safe
3. Espro P7 32-ounce — best insulated press for a cleaner cup
Bon Appétit selects the P7 as its overall pick, and Food Network names it its stainless pick. The insulated stainless body is paired with a double filter designed to keep grounds separated after plunging. That arrangement suits people who want fewer fines and less continued contact between brewed coffee and grounds.
The P7 costs more than the lower-priced options in this field, and its very fine filtration may make the cup feel less full-bodied than a conventional French press. That is a taste preference, not a defect.

4. Espro P3 — best glass press with double filtration
Bon Appétit calls the P3 its inexpensive pick, and Burr & Basket highlights it for filtration. It combines a glass body with a double micro-filter, offering the cleaner-cup approach associated with Espro’s filtration without the P7’s insulated stainless construction.
Expect less heat retention than from the P7, and note that reviewers describe the P3’s plastic components as lighter-feeling. It is a fit for buyers who value filtration and a visible glass carafe more than an insulated body.

5. Yeti 64-ounce French Press — best for large batches
Bon Appétit names the 64-ounce Yeti its large-capacity pick. Its insulated construction is aimed at keeping a larger batch warm, which can be useful when serving several people rather than brewing one or two cups at a time.
Capacity brings a handling trade-off: Bon Appétit flags the press’s weight and pouring control. Consider where you will set it down and how comfortably you can pour before choosing a press this large.

6. Bodum Brazil 34-ounce — best budget glass alternative
Food Network names the Brazil its value pick, and Burr & Basket calls it a budget choice. It uses a glass-and-mesh brewing approach similar to the Chambord, with a simpler plastic frame.
It gives up insulation and the more finished frame of the classic design. For a lower-cost traditional glass press, those compromises may be acceptable; the usual glass risks and mesh sediment still apply.

A reliable starting recipe
Food Network’s baseline is coarsely ground coffee, water around 200°F, a brief stir, roughly four minutes of steeping, and a slow plunge. Bon Appétit describes a typical water range of 195–200°F and steeping for several minutes. Treat both as starting points: adjust grind, time, and quantity to suit your beans and taste.

- Use a coarse, even grind to reduce excess fines while allowing the coffee to extract.
- Heat water to approximately 195–200°F.
- Add the coffee and water, give the grounds a brief stir, and let the brew steep for about four minutes as a starting point.
- Press slowly, then pour. With a press designed to separate grounds after plunging, follow its intended filter setup.
What this comparison can—and cannot—establish
The named awards and experiential findings above belong to Food Network, Bon Appétit, and Burr & Basket. Their reviews are recent but use different methods and reach different overall picks; they are not a substitute for a single controlled test across all six models. Exact care instructions, fit, and current availability can change, so verify those details with the manufacturer for the specific model and size you are considering.
