The AlgoLaser Pixi is a small, enclosed diode laser engraver built around a fixed 100 × 100 mm work area. AlgoLaser sells 3W, 5W and 10W diode versions, plus a separate 1.5W, 1064 nm infrared Pixi for bare-metal work. That makes the Pixi most suitable for compact signs, tags, ornaments and other small projects—not large panels or unrestricted metal marking.
The specifications and material list below come from AlgoLaser’s product information and user manual, not independent testing. Treat advertised speed, spot size and cutting capacity as manufacturer claims rather than guaranteed results.

AlgoLaser also lists a maximum working speed of 6000 mm/min. A nominal spot measurement or maximum speed does not by itself establish engraving detail, cutting speed or throughput on a particular material. Specifications and positioning are from the official Pixi product page.

What can the Pixi engrave?
AlgoLaser lists the diode Pixi for opaque materials including wood, leather, paper, cardboard, stone, ceramics and coated metal. These are manufacturer-stated compatibility claims; the result depends on the stock, coating, artwork and settings.
Wood and other opaque materials
Small wooden plaques, leather goods, paper products, cardboard templates, stone pieces and ceramic items fit the machine’s intended scale when their dimensions stay within the 100 × 100 mm area. The product page claims that the 10W model can cut up to 13 mm plywood and 20 mm pine, but it gives no independent test conditions. Do not assume every plywood grade, pine board or setting will produce that depth in one pass.
Transparent acrylic and glass
AlgoLaser says transparent materials such as acrylic or glass require a colored backer or etching spray. That is a setup requirement in the manufacturer’s guidance, not evidence that every transparent sheet will mark consistently.
Coated versus bare metal
This distinction is critical. The 3W, 5W and 10W blue-diode versions are listed for coated metal. The same product page identifies a separate 1.5W, 1064 nm infrared Pixi for bare and coated metal. If your project involves stainless steel, aluminum or another uncoated alloy, compare that infrared configuration and verify the target alloy and expected mark before buying. The diode model should not be presented as a general bare-metal engraver.
Is 10W enough for your projects?
Choose power by the material and task, not by the number alone. A 10W model may be the sensible choice among the blue-diode Pixi versions when you expect more demanding engraving or want to consider the seller’s stated cutting capability. The 3W and 5W versions may suit lighter hobby work. All three still have the same compact work envelope, so moving from 3W to 10W does not let you engrave a larger sign.

- Measure your largest intended blank; anything larger than 100 × 100 mm needs repositioning or a different machine.
- For engraving, prioritize the material’s surface and the contrast you need.
- For cutting, allow for multiple passes, kerf and variation between stock; the 13 mm plywood and 20 mm pine figures are seller claims without stated test conditions.
- If bare metal is the objective, assess the 1.5W infrared version rather than assuming blue-diode power solves the problem.
Software, files and controls
The product page lists the AlgoLaser App, LightBurn and LaserGRBL as supported software. Listed file types are JPG, SVG, PNG, BMP, G-code and DWG. The touchscreen AlgoOS feature list includes custom text, sketches and over-the-air updates.
These are published compatibility and feature claims; no workflow or setup test establishes how each program behaves with a particular computer, file or operating system. Confirm current LightBurn compatibility and the required connection method before purchase if that is central to your workflow.
Rotary engraving and bundle choices
Cylindrical work
AlgoLaser identifies its ARR rollers as compatible with cylindrical engraving in the X and Y directions. A roller is therefore an accessory decision, not a capability to assume from the base machine. Check the exact ARR model, supported diameter and the bundle’s included parts against your workpiece before ordering.

Displayed packages vary by power, color, market and bundle. The product page shows combinations that can include an ARR2.0 rotary roller, thermal paper, an aluminum business card, or the Pixi smoke purifier and filter. Contents are volatile, so verify the selected configuration at checkout rather than relying on a photograph or another region’s listing.

The manufacturer describes the Pixi as enclosed and says it meets Class 1 standards. The material reviewed here does not independently verify a certification record, so this should be treated as AlgoLaser’s statement.

The user manual gives an unambiguous warning: “The use of the laser engraver carries a significant risk of fire.” An enclosure or purifier does not remove that risk. Use suitable stock, follow the complete manual precautions, provide the ventilation or filtration your material requires, and supervise operation rather than leaving a running job unattended. The purifier/filter is a smoke-management accessory, not a substitute for safe operation.
Warranty and purchase checks
The user manual states a 12-month limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, with exclusions including damage caused by misuse or abuse. The product page also advertises a one-year warranty. Terms can depend on the seller and region, so confirm the current policy, support route and return conditions for your purchase location.

- the selected power and whether it is the blue-diode or 1.5W infrared configuration;
- the 100 × 100 mm area against your blanks;
- whether the exact bundle includes a roller, purifier or filter;
- the material coating, especially for metal;
- software and connection requirements for your preferred workflow; and
- regional warranty and service terms.
Who should buy the AlgoLaser Pixi?
The Pixi makes sense for a buyer who wants an enclosed, compact machine for small-format engraving on listed opaque materials and is comfortable working within a 100 × 100 mm area. The 3W, 5W and 10W choices let you trade cost and intended workload without changing the footprint.
Look elsewhere—or reassess the configuration—if you need large signs, established independent cutting benchmarks, unattended production, or reliable bare-metal marking from a blue diode. For cylindrical projects, budget for a compatible ARR roller; for smoky materials, plan filtration and ventilation as part of the setup.
Verdict
On the published information, the AlgoLaser Pixi is a basic, small-format enclosed engraver with broad stated support for wood, leather, paper, stone, ceramics and coated metal, plus common software and file formats. Its practical boundaries are just as important: a 100 × 100 mm work area, manufacturer-only performance claims, and a clear separation between coated-metal diode work and bare-metal infrared work. It is best evaluated as a compact project machine, with the exact power, accessories and safety arrangements matched to the materials you actually intend to use.
