Zorzi’s Dalkeith W59 won the 2024 HIA COLORBOND steel Perth Home of the Year, with additional Perth awards for custom homebuilding and residential design. The project’s defining features include a private parents’ wing, expansive indoor-outdoor living and a five-car underground garage.
Which awards did Zorzi’s Dalkeith home win?
The Housing Industry Association announced the Perth results on 29 October 2024. It named Zorzi’s home the overall Perth Home of the Year and also awarded the project the John Pietersen Award for Custom Built Home of the Year. Rietveld Architects, Zorzi’s in-house architecture practice, received the Perth Residential Design of the Year award for the home. Zorzi identifies the project as Dalkeith W59. HIA’s Perth awards announcement and its Perth Home of the Year listing record the results.
These Perth titles are distinct from the state awards reported the following month. In a 29 November 2024 report, HIA said Dalkeith W59 received the HIA-CSR WA Home of the Year and Custom Built Home of the Year awards. The WA awards report covers those later results.
How the home is arranged
A private parents’ wing
The master suite occupies a spacious wing set apart from the main family areas. It includes a dedicated parents’ lounge and overlooks the alfresco area and pool, combining separation with a view across the outdoor living space.

Kitchen and outdoor connection
At ground level, the kitchen uses full-height integrated cabinetry finished in Japanese black timber panelling. Large sliding doors connect it to the alfresco, pool and cabana, extending the living area outdoors.
Lower-level amenities
The lower garage level includes an underground garage for five cars, a fully fitted gym, storage and a wine cellar with built-in cabinetry and display racks. HIA’s winner listing also describes a double-height entry, hotel-style bedrooms, and a home office with a custom stone-topped desk and cabinetry.

Materials and construction detailing
HIA describes a palette of concrete, timber and natural stone, with battened timber, polished plaster and aluminium repeated across interior and exterior spaces. The award announcement attributes the judges’ recognition to the project’s complex design features, sophisticated materials and workmanship. HIA WA Executive Director Michael McGowan said: “The judges were impressed with the combination of complex design features, sophisticated materials and exceptional workmanship resulting in a beautifully executed family home.”
Energy, comfort and technology features
HIA lists EV charging, hydronic underfloor heating, photovoltaic (PV) cells with two Tesla batteries, and full home automation and security among the installed features. The award announcement does not identify models for the EV charger, heating system, PV equipment or automation, and it gives no comparative performance figures. These details describe the project, not a product recommendation or measured energy-performance claim.

What the award reports do not establish
The HIA reports and Zorzi’s project identification do not state the home’s street address, floor area or construction cost, or say whether it is open for public inspection. They also do not provide specifications for the named systems beyond the categories and battery brand noted above. Zorzi’s official site identifies the home as Dalkeith W59: Zorzi.
