The WAINLUX K8 is a compact, enclosed diode laser engraver with a manufacturer-stated 130 × 130 mm engraving area and three listed laser options: 2.5W, 5W and 10W. The 10W version has the strongest stated cutting capacity, but the small work area makes the K8 a better fit for labels, small parts and other compact projects than larger construction components. Its published cutting, speed, precision and safety details are manufacturer claims, not independently verified results.
What the WAINLUX K8 is—and how much work fits
WAINLUX lists the K8 as an enclosed diode engraver with a 130 × 130 mm engraving area. That is the key practical constraint: a project must fit within a roughly 13 cm square working area unless it can be repositioned and engraved in sections. For construction-related use, that could suit small labels, tags, templates or decorative details, but it is not a substitute for equipment intended to mark full-size boards or large panels.
The manufacturer also lists a platform adjustable by 100 mm and a maximum object size described as 220 × 170 mm or 190 × 190 mm. Those object-size figures do not change the stated engraving area; confirm dimensions and clearance for the exact object and setup before purchase. WAINLUX further claims 0.01 mm engraving precision and a maximum speed of 15,000 mm/min. These are specifications on its K8 product page, not independent measurements.
Which K8 laser power should you choose?
WAINLUX lists 2.5W, 5W and 10W modules. Its published cutting capacities vary substantially by module and material. The figures below are vendor claims, not guaranteed results: material composition, focus, speed, power settings and number of passes can all affect the outcome.

These thicknesses should not be treated as a promise that every sheet or board of that thickness will cut cleanly. If cutting is central to the job, ask the seller about the exact module and material configuration, and allow for test cuts and multiple passes rather than planning production around the maximum claim.
What materials can the K8 engrave?
WAINLUX says the K8 can engrave paper, wood, leather, cloth, cardboard, stone, ceramic, stainless steel and coated metal. The product page does not establish performance for every grade, finish or coating, so confirm material suitability before using a workpiece. In particular, the inclusion of stainless steel and metal in an engraving-material list should not be read as a claim that the diode directly engraves every bare metal surface.

Camera, software and setup
WAINLUX advertises an onboard 2MP camera for positioning objects, but states that camera use currently supports PC with CutLabX. That is a specific workflow limitation: verify compatibility with your computer, operating system and intended software before buying if camera positioning matters to you. The published information does not establish that the camera works across other operating systems or engraving programs.
The K8 product page also describes offline engraving, manual platform-height adjustment and an interchangeable laser lens. Check the current product listing for how offline operation works, which software features are supported and what is included with the particular package. The available claims do not establish LightBurn compatibility, so do not assume it will work with that software.

Enclosure and safety claims
WAINLUX describes a fully enclosed machine with Hall-sensor door protection and viewing windows that it says filter 99.7% of blue light. The company says the machine stops when a door opens, while also describing a professional mode that allows side doors to be open for use with a roller. These are manufacturer design and filtering claims, not an independent certification or a guarantee of risk-free operation. Follow the supplied safety instructions and assess the full setup, including ventilation and the material being processed.
A smoke, dust and odor purifier is listed as an optional external accessory. The product page does not establish that a purifier is included in every K8 package.

Accessories and package contents
WAINLUX lists its R1 rotary roller as compatible with the K8 and says a rotary axis can handle cylindrical objects up to 75 mm in diameter. It also markets the MD22 Mini Purifier for the K8. These are compatibility and capacity statements from the manufacturer; verify the exact accessory model and package contents on the listing you plan to buy. Neither accessory should be assumed to come with the engraver.
Verdict: a small-format choice, with claims to verify
The K8’s strongest selling points on paper are its enclosed format, three module choices and compact footprint. Its central limitation is equally clear: the stated 130 × 130 mm engraving area restricts the size of a single-pass job. Choose a module based on the material and thickness you actually expect to process, and treat the advertised cut capacity, speed, precision and safety features as manufacturer claims rather than independently confirmed performance.
