Choose the SwitchBot K11+ if you want a compact, lower-cost robot vacuum with a small self-emptying dock. Choose the S20 if you want a real automated mopping system for hard floors and can accommodate its larger station and water maintenance. They are not equivalent models at different price points: the K11+ wipes with a manually attached wet pad; the S20 washes a roller mop as it cleans. On SwitchBot’s U.S. storefront on August 18, 2026, the listed prices were $399.99 and $799.99, respectively. K11+ U.S. listing · S20 U.S. listing.
SwitchBot K11+ vs. S20 at a glance
These are the most relevant SwitchBot models for a compact-vacuum-versus-automated-mopping decision, not the brand’s entire robot lineup; its U.S. catalog also lists models such as the K10+ Pro. See SwitchBot’s U.S. household-robot catalog. Prices below are the U.S. storefront listings seen August 18, 2026; promotions, availability, and regional bundles can change.
| Category | K11+ | S20 |
|---|---|---|
| Listed U.S. price | $399.99 | $799.99 |
| Main role | Compact robot vacuum | Robot vacuum with automated roller mopping |
| Maximum advertised suction | 6,000Pa | 10,000Pa |
| Mop | Manually attached wet-wipe-style plate; no mop washing at dock | RevoRoll roller, rinsed during cleaning |
| Dock and debris | Auto-empty dock with a 4L dust bag; up to 90 days is an advertised storage interval | Auto-empty station; up to 90 days between bag disposals is a manufacturer claim |
| Water system | None at dock | Tank-based station or a separately listed auto-fill/drain configuration, depending on bundle and region |
| Navigation | LDS laser and SLAM; infrared and PSD obstacle sensing | LiDAR and AI camera, according to SwitchBot |
| Best fit | Smaller homes where vacuuming and footprint matter most | Hard-floor homes where routine mopping matters |
| Key trade-off | Basic wipe attachment, not automated floor washing | Higher cost, larger station, and water-system upkeep |
Specifications and manufacturer claims are not standardized real-world cleaning scores. In particular, the higher S20 suction rating does not by itself prove it will clean every floor or debris type twice as well. K11+ specifications · S20 specifications.
What the K11+ is good at—and what its mop is not
Compact vacuuming with auto-emptying
The K11+ robot measures 248 × 248 × 98.5 mm and weighs 2.3 kg; its charging station weighs 4.2 kg. Its small robot body can help it fit through tighter furniture layouts, and the dock is unusually compact compared with larger multi-function stations. Still, measure the dock location and access clearance rather than treating a compact robot as proof that the complete setup will fit anywhere. SwitchBot advertises a 4L antibacterial dust bag for up to 90 days of storage; actual replacement frequency depends on how often it runs and how much debris it collects.

For navigation, SwitchBot lists LDS laser mapping with SLAM, infrared and PSD obstacle sensing, cliff detection, no-go zones, auto-resume, and threshold climbing up to 1.7 cm. That threshold figure is a maximum manufacturer claim, not a guarantee across different floor transitions. Independent testing has also noted that mapping can be less dependable in larger or complex homes. SwitchBot K11+ specifications · TechRadar’s K11+ review.
The wipe plate is not a self-washing mop
The K11+ does not have a water tank, powered roller, dock-based mop washing, or mop drying. Its mop option is a plate with a wet wipe that the robot drags over the floor. You attach the plate and prepare, replace, or clean the wipe yourself. Independent reviews describe this as light wiping rather than a substitute for a dedicated vacuum-mop system. It may suit an occasional pass over light surface dust, but it is a poor match for dried spills, sticky kitchen grime, or anyone expecting the dock to care for a mop automatically. Tom’s Guide’s K11+ review · MacRumors’ comparison.
Because the pad is physically wet, set no-mop and carpet zones carefully and check that rugs will not be crossed with the pad attached. The K11+ is best understood as a compact vacuum with a manual wipe accessory, not a cheaper version of the S20’s mopping system.
What the S20’s roller mop adds
Rinsing while it cleans
The S20 combines vacuuming with SwitchBot’s RevoRoll roller mop and RinseSync system. SwitchBot says the roller is rinsed during cleaning and claims 300 scrubbing cycles per minute, 1 kg of downward pressure, and 50°C hot-air drying. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent laboratory measurements. The station also handles dust emptying, water management, and mop drying.

- Ergonomically Designed: Work in tight areas with a compact design that gets into tough spots
- Compact and Lightweight: Both tools are designed to fit into difficult to reach spaces. The 1/4" impact driver has a length of 5.55 in. and weighs just 2.8 lbs, while the 1/2" drill/driver measures only 7.5 in. and weighs 3.6 lbs
- Both the DEWALT impact driver and electric drill driver feature integrated LED work lights with a convenient 20-second delay, ensuring enhanced visibility in dimly lit or challenging work areas
- One-Handed Loading - Keep one hand free with a 1/4 in. hex chuck that accepts 1 in. bit tips
- Power drill cordless with 1/2" single sleeve ratcheting chuck provides tight bit gripping strength, making bit changes faster and more secure
Independent MacRumors testing found the continuously washed roller more convincing than a wipe-style attachment; it reported improved results on dried ketchup after multiple passes. That is a reviewer observation under its test conditions, not a guarantee on every stain or flooring type. The same review reported that its tested S20 did not provide a dedicated mop-only mode. Software and configuration may affect available controls. MacRumors’ S20 and K11+ comparison · SwitchBot S20 features.
Choose the station configuration deliberately
The tank-based S20 station means handling clean and dirty water. MacRumors reported 2.7L clean-water and 2.5L dirty-water tanks and refilled or emptied them about weekly in its testing; frequency will vary with the cleaning schedule and area. SwitchBot also lists an S20 configuration with an auto-fill and drain system. That option changes the installation and routine water-handling demands, and its exact bundle and availability are region-dependent.
Before ordering, confirm whether the listing includes the tank-based station or an auto-fill/drain setup, and verify the included plumbing components and installation requirements. A plumbing-connected station needs a suitable water supply and drain; it may not suit a rental or a location without nearby connections. S20 with Auto-Fill & Drain System · S20 U.S. listing.

Automated mop care reduces some hands-on work; it does not eliminate maintenance. The roller, tray, filters, and dirty-water path still need attention, and the owner must check that drying completes and residue or odors do not build up. Cleaning performance, navigation, and common snags
Suction and pet hair
The S20 has the higher published maximum suction rating: 10,000Pa versus 6,000Pa for the K11+. MacRumors found both handled ordinary dust, fur, dirt, and debris in its testing, with the S20 picking up more quickly in that comparison. That does not make the ratings a universal performance ranking: brush design, airflow, flooring, debris, and number of passes also matter. The K11+ is a plausible choice for routine dust, crumbs, and pet hair in a smaller home, but the available figures do not establish a controlled pet-hair comparison between the two.
Thresholds, rugs, and obstacles
SwitchBot advertises K11+ threshold climbing up to 1.7 cm and S20 obstacle crossing up to 20 mm. These are maximum claims, not promises that the robots will cross every doorway, bevel, floor gap, or sliding-door track. Measure the transition and consider its shape; a short but sharp edge may be harder than a gradual ramp.

The S20 uses LiDAR and an AI camera according to SwitchBot. Its obstacle-height claim does not mean cords, socks, toys, or clutter are reliably harmless. Independent reviews reported navigation and mapping compromises, repeated attempts at blocked routes, and threshold or rug issues. Create maps, adjust no-go zones, and observe how the robot behaves around rugs before relying on scheduled runs. TechRadar’s S20 review · S20 manual.
- Clear charging cables, loose strings, socks, and pet toys before a run.
- Check carpet and rug behavior with the mop configuration you intend to use.
- Use no-go or no-mop zones where a transition or object repeatedly causes trouble.
- Keep sensors and the S20 roller path clean, and check the dirty-water system and tray for residue.
Noise and app compromises
MacRumors found the S20 louder than some higher-end robots in its testing and said its reduced-suction mode was still not quiet enough for comfortable nearby sleeping or work. TechRadar also described the K11+ auto-empty cycle as loud. These are reviewer observations, not matched decibel measurements, so they do not establish which is quieter under identical conditions. Schedule cleaning and emptying when the sound will be least disruptive. Reviewers have also noted app quirks, imperfect mapping, and occasional object-handling failures; plan to check maps and room boundaries rather than assuming setup will be flawless.

SwitchBot markets both products as Matter-compatible, with Apple Home support; the K11+ listing also names Alexa and Google Home. Matter can make supported smart-home controls available in an ecosystem, but buyers should not assume every map-editing, zone, cleaning preference, consumable, firmware, or diagnostic feature appears there. The SwitchBot app remains important for configuration and advanced robot controls.

Which model fits your home?
Choose the K11+ for a smaller, vacuum-first home
- Your apartment or home has limited room for a dock.
- Vacuuming is the priority; mopping is occasional and manual wiping is acceptable.
- You want auto-emptying at the lower listed U.S. price.
- You prefer to avoid a water tank or plumbing setup.
For renters, the K11+ is usually the simpler fit because it does not need a water system. That advantage matters most when compact placement and straightforward upkeep outweigh automated mopping.
Choose the S20 for routine hard-floor washing
- Your home has substantial tile, vinyl, sealed wood, or other suitable hard flooring.
- You want a roller rinsed during cleaning and dried by the station.
- You can accommodate the larger station and its water-handling requirements.
- You are willing to keep the roller, tray, filters, and water path clean.
The S20’s premium is for a more complete wet-cleaning system, not simply the higher suction number. Its benefit is clearest where mopping is a regular job; a carpet-heavy home may get less value from that system.
For pet hair, smart homes, or less maintenance
For pet hair, choose based on floor area, hair volume, and whether hard floors also need washing; the published suction figures and anti-tangle claims do not establish a definitive winner in controlled pet-hair testing. For Apple Home or other Matter ecosystems, either model may suit basic supported controls, but advanced robot management remains tied to the SwitchBot app. “Less maintenance” depends on what you want to avoid: the K11+ avoids water-system upkeep but requires manual wipe handling, while the S20 automates parts of mop care but adds water, roller, and tray maintenance.
Setup checklist before the first scheduled clean
- Measure the station area. Check the dock footprint, approach space, outlet access, and room to service the bag or water containers.
- Measure floor transitions. Check thresholds, tracks, and rug edges rather than relying only on the advertised maximum crossing height.
- Prepare the floor. Pick up cords, socks, strings, toys, and loose objects that can snag or confuse the robot.
- Create and inspect the map. Run mapping from the dock, then check room boundaries and any areas the robot missed.
- Set restricted areas. Add no-go zones and, for K11+ wiping, no-mop or carpet areas where needed.
- Check carpet behavior. Test rugs and transitions with the selected mop setup before unattended schedules.
- Confirm S20 water configuration. Decide whether you have the tank station or the auto-fill/drain version and plan the corresponding water handling or plumbing.
- Follow the manual for solution and upkeep. Use compatible cleaning solution and keep the roller, tray, filters, sensors, and waste-water path maintained.
- Schedule around noise. Account for vacuuming and the K11+ or S20 station’s emptying and maintenance cycles.
