The advertised hours were 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; that date has passed, and the invitation does not confirm whether the celebration took place as planned.
What the invitation announced
A paid advertorial published by the Lincoln Parish Journal on October 3, 2026, invited readers to join the Pearce Lumber family for “fun, food, fellowship, and prizes.” It described the event as a celebration of the business’s 90th anniversary and gave its time as 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The advertorial provides no attendance figure or post-event account, so it establishes the announced schedule—not the event’s outcome.
Why Pearce Lumber marked 90 years
The advertorial traces the company’s official beginning to T.J. Pearce’s retail lumberyard venture in 1936. It says Pearce had moved his family to Ruston in 1926 and operated a sawmill before opening the yard near an old mule barn.
As an illustration of the early business, the article describes a 1942 advertisement for a building-supply store carrying paint, builders’ hardware, lumber, shingles, roofing, insulation, and other materials. It also recounts the involvement of successive Pearce and Alsup family members and says a fifth generation is learning the business. These are historical claims in the paid advertorial, not independently corroborated reporting.

The business described in the advertorial
The article says Pearce Lumber moved in June 2016 from 408 West California Avenue to 1032 Burgessville Road, just off Louisiana Highway 33. It describes the company as a supplier of lumber and building materials for remodeling and new construction, a retailer of consumer and outdoor brands, and a local Ace Hardware store. Jim Pearce is quoted as saying, “We supply everything you need to make your dreams come true.” The article does not establish current inventory, hours, or operating status.
A community story from Dubach
The advertorial recounts that Pearce Lumber donated lumber to volunteers restoring Dubach’s historic baseball field in 2023. It attributes the response “I’m in” to Ben Alsup. This is a story as told in the promotional article, rather than independently verified reporting.

How to read the original invitation now
Because the advertised date, October 3, 2026, is in the past, the headline’s “today” no longer applies. The article is useful as a record of the celebration Pearce Lumber announced and the business history it presented, but it does not confirm that the event occurred or provide an update on the store’s current operations.
