Samsung’s general US dryer guidance describes a reset as a power cycle, not as pressing a universal reset button. Unplug the dryer or switch off its circuit breaker, wait 1 to 5 minutes, then restore power. If the controls are unresponsive, check Child Lock and your model’s button instructions first; Samsung’s control guidance specifies a 60-second power cycle if the panel still does not respond.
Does a Samsung dryer have a reset button?
Samsung’s general US reset guide does not identify a dedicated reset button shared by its dryers. Instead, it recommends removing power briefly and restoring it. Exact controls and troubleshooting steps can vary by model, so look up the model code and use the matching manual through Samsung’s dryer support page.
A power cycle can clear a temporary electronic glitch or stored error codes, but it is not a repair. It will not remove a blocked vent or fix the underlying cause of a recurring fault. Because clearing stored codes can make diagnosis harder, note the displayed code and troubleshoot it before resetting when possible. How to power-cycle the dryer
- Stop the cycle. If the dryer is running and it is safe to use the controls, stop it before removing power.
- Disconnect power safely. Unplug the dryer, or switch off its circuit breaker. If you need to handle the power cord, Samsung says to switch off the breaker first.
- Wait, then restore power. For the general reset, leave power off for 1 to 5 minutes, then plug the dryer back in or switch the breaker on. For an unresponsive control panel after checking Child Lock, Samsung specifies a 60-second power interruption.
- Test the original symptom. Select a cycle and check whether the dryer responds. If the error or problem returns, follow the model-specific troubleshooting instructions rather than repeating resets.

When to stop troubleshooting
- Do not touch or use a visibly damaged plug, cord, or outlet, or one with burn marks.
- Do not continue resetting if the breaker trips repeatedly. Leave electrical diagnosis and repair to a licensed electrician.
- Arrange Samsung or qualified appliance service when the controls remain unresponsive or a code or fault persists after the model-prescribed steps.
- Keep the error code available for the technician; repeatedly clearing it may remove useful diagnostic history.
