Samsung says the moisture sensor is usually two curved metal bars in the housing or beside it. The layout can vary by model, so check your dryer’s manual if you do not see them there.
How to find the moisture sensor
- Open the door. Look at the inside front of the drum.
- Locate the lint-filter housing. Check the housing and the area directly beside it.
- Look for two curved metal bars. Samsung describes the moisture sensors as a pair of curved metal bars, typically in or beside the lint-filter housing. See Samsung’s location guidance.
If your dryer’s layout differs, use the manual for its full model number rather than assuming every Samsung dryer places the bars identically.
What the bars do
On Sensor Dry cycles, the bars detect moisture in the laundry. The dryer uses those readings to determine when to stop. Dryer-sheet residue can coat the bars and interfere with readings, which may cause a Sensor Dry cycle to end too soon, according to Samsung’s cleaning guidance.
How to clean the moisture sensor
- Turn off the dryer and open the door.
- Wipe the bars gently with a soft cloth and mild soap. Samsung Canada specifies a soft cloth dampened with warm water and mild soap.
- Dry the bars thoroughly with a towel or another clean cloth before using the dryer.
Samsung’s instructions call for wiping and drying the bars; they do not require taking the dryer apart for this cleaning. Avoid abrasive materials that could damage the surfaces. See Samsung Canada’s cleaning directions.

If clothes are still damp or the cycle ends too soon
Dirty sensor bars are only one possible cause. Samsung also identifies load size, dry-level settings, mixed fabrics, and exhaust-vent condition as factors in drying results. Consider these checks:
- Very small loads: A small load may not brush against the bars enough for the dryer to sense its moisture reliably.
- Mixed fabrics: Different materials can dry at different rates, leaving some items damp when others are ready.
- Dry-level setting: Check that the selected setting matches the result you want.
- Airflow: If drying takes too long or airflow seems poor, check the exhaust vent. Samsung recommends professional vent cleaning and also describes a vent-cleaning kit for people doing the work themselves.
For more troubleshooting context, see Samsung’s guidance for clothes that are not dry after a dryer cycle.

When a replacement may be relevant
If cleaning and basic troubleshooting do not resolve the issue, a model-specific repair may be needed. A repair-library reference identifies part DC61-02627A for a Samsung dryer moisture-sensor replacement, but that reference does not establish that the part fits your dryer. Confirm the full model number against an authoritative parts listing before ordering or arranging a repair. Do not assume a part number is universal across Samsung models.
