For a standard removable shelf, open the refrigerator door fully, gently lift the shelf at the front, and slide it out while supporting its weight. If you mean the glass panel directly above the crisper drawers, remove the drawers first and release the shelf tabs; that assembly varies by model. Do not force a shelf that resists, and avoid lifting a hooked shelf all the way up because it can dent the refrigerator’s rear wall on some models.
First identify which shelf you are removing
Samsung refrigerators use different shelf designs. An ordinary shelf is typically held by hooks that fit into notches. The glass panel over the fruit and vegetable drawers is a separate crisper-cover assembly and may attach to a drawer divider or water-filter housing.

Remove an ordinary refrigerator shelf
- Open the refrigerator door fully so you can access the shelf and its supports.
- Hold the front of the shelf, gently lift it, and slide it toward you. Do not lift it fully: Samsung cautions that the rear wall can be dented on some models.
- Keep the shelf supported as it clears the rails. Tempered glass is heavy, so use care while carrying it.
Remove the glass shelf above the crisper drawers
These steps apply to the specific bottom-glass-shelf assembly described in Samsung Gulf’s instructions for French door refrigerators. Shelf appearance and release details differ by model.
- Slide out both fruit and vegetable drawers, angling each slightly toward the center as you remove it.
- Locate the tabs on both sides of the drawer divider or water-filter housing. Press them to separate the shelf from the housing.
- Lift the shelf slightly while pulling it out. If needed, angle one side downward to help it clear the refrigerator; stop if it resists rather than forcing it.
- Set the shelf on a clean, flat surface. If you are separating the glass from its frame for cleaning, release the retainer clips at the rear corners as directed for your assembly.
Reinstall the shelf and check that it is seated
Ordinary hooked shelf
- Hold the shelf at an angle with its front higher than its back.
- Fit the top hook into its notch, then lower the shelf so the bottom hook seats in its notch.
- Check that the shelf is correctly oriented and seated before placing food on it.
Crisper-cover assembly
Reinstall the glass shelf and drawers by reversing the removal steps. Make sure the shelf is fully seated in its supports before loading it.

Handle glass safely and clean it carefully
- Support the shelf during removal, transport, and cleaning. Samsung warns that glass can break and cause injury.
- Do not rinse cold glass with warm or hot water. Let it reach room temperature first, then use lukewarm water.
- For separated panes, Samsung Gulf recommends water and mild detergent or glass cleaner, followed by drying with a clean, lint-free cloth.
What to do if the shelf will not come out
Do not pry or pull harder. The release method and shelf geometry are model-specific, and a Samsung manual notes that shelf appearance differs by model. Find the refrigerator’s model code and consult its manual before trying another release method. If a retainer clip is damaged, Samsung’s bottom-shelf guidance says the clip is not replaced individually; the shelf must be replaced as an assembly. Verify the exact model compatibility before sourcing a replacement.
