If your Samsung washer displays UE or UB, pause the cycle, untangle and spread the laundry evenly around the tub, close the door, and restart. Then check that the washer sits level on a stable floor and that the load suits the cycle. If the error keeps returning after these checks, consult your model’s manual or arrange service rather than assuming a particular part has failed.
What UE or UB means on a Samsung washer
Samsung uses UE and UB for an unbalanced-load condition: the washer detects that the laundry is not distributed evenly during spinning and may stop the spin for safety. Samsung’s US troubleshooting page groups UE, Ub, U6 and related displays under unbalanced-load information. On some models, Ur means “Unbalanced Load Retry”: the washer may add water and try to balance the load before spinning again, which can extend the cycle. Code meanings can vary by model; for example, Samsung says dc can indicate an unbalanced load on some models and a door error on others.
Check the manual for your exact model if the display differs or you are unsure what a code means. See Samsung US washing-machine information and error codes.
Rebalance the laundry first
- Pause the washer. Follow the controls for your model to pause or stop the cycle, then wait until the door unlocks.
- Untangle and redistribute the items. Spread laundry around the tub instead of leaving a heavy item bunched on one side. Check for a single bulky item that has shifted during spinning.
- Close the door and restart. Resume or restart the cycle according to your washer’s controls.
A very small or single-item load may also fail to spin satisfactorily on some models. Use the loading guidance in your manual rather than adding items blindly, especially if the load contains bulky or delicate fabrics.

Check that the washer is stable and level
A washer that rocks or has feet that do not contact the floor evenly can vibrate and make imbalance problems worse. Confirm that the machine is on a flat, stable surface and that all four feet are firmly on the floor. Adjust the feet as directed in the model manual. A spirit level can help you check placement, but Samsung does not require a particular tool.
Samsung India’s guidance recommends leaving at least 10 cm between the washer and adjacent walls and says stands or trolleys are not recommended. These are recommendations from that regional support page, not a universal measurement for every installation; check your model’s installation instructions. Match the load and cycle to the items
Ordinary laundry
Avoid overloading, spread items around the tub, and select a cycle intended for the fabric. If the same items repeatedly bunch together, adjust the load rather than repeatedly restarting the spin.

These figures are specific to that regional support guidance and may not apply to every model. Check your washer’s manual for its load limits and bedding cycle settings.
Waterproof materials
Samsung Electronics Service Korea warns that certain waterproof items—such as ski wear, diaper covers, bath mats, curtains and rainwear—can retain water during spinning. Retained water may shift within the load, causing uneven spinning and vibration. Follow the garment label and your washer’s manual; this guidance should not be taken as a universal rule for every waterproof textile or Samsung model. When calibration may help—and what it cannot do
Samsung says Calibration mode recalibrates weight detection, which helps the washer adjust the amount of water used for a cycle. It is commonly performed at the end of installation, and the washer must be empty for calibration to work correctly. Calibration is separate from redistributing a load: it does not balance laundry in the tub or establish that a mechanical problem has been repaired.
Do not rely on a universal button combination. Calibration steps depend on the model, so use the instructions in its manual or Samsung’s model-specific support information.

When to arrange service
If UE/UB continues after you have redistributed the load and checked that the washer is stable, contact Samsung support or a qualified appliance repair service. A recurring code does not, by itself, identify a failed component. Diagnosis should be based on the exact model and the technician’s assessment rather than a guess about which part needs replacing.
