Choose a blade only after checking the manual for your exact DeWalt saw model. Match its specified blade diameter, arbor or center-hole size and shape, and required speed rating; then select a blade intended for your material and the finish you want. Tooth count alone does not determine whether a blade fits or is right for a cut.
Start with the exact saw model—not the DeWalt brand
Find the full model number on your saw and consult its instruction manual. DeWalt cautions: “Only use the size of blade specified in your user manual for your circular saw since alterations may cause the tool to be unsafe and may cause the warranty to be void.” DeWalt Support
Do not assume that a blade fits because it is made by DeWalt, or because another DeWalt saw takes that size. The DWE574/DWE575/DWE575SB manual is useful guidance for those models, but its blade examples are not a universal specification for every DeWalt circular saw.
Check blade fit and speed before choosing tooth count
- Diameter: Use the diameter specified in your saw’s manual.
- Arbor or center hole: Match the size and shape required by the manual; do not assume a blade can be adapted safely.
- Maximum RPM: The DWE575 manual says the blade’s maximum recommended RPM must meet or exceed the saw’s RPM. Check the manual for your own model and the rating marked on the blade.
- Kerf and body thickness: If your saw has a riving knife, check the model’s manual for compatible blade kerf and body-thickness limits. These specifications are model-specific; requirements for a track saw should not be applied automatically to a handheld circular saw.
If any required fit or speed specification is unclear, do not install the blade until you have confirmed it against the saw manual or the manufacturer’s guidance.

Match the blade to the material, cut, and finish
Once compatibility is established, choose a blade labeled for the material and kind of cut. For the DWE574/DWE575/DWE575SB family, DeWalt’s manual gives these examples:
| Manual blade example | Intended use stated by DeWalt |
|---|---|
| 24-tooth combination framing blade | Fast general-purpose ripping and crosscuts |
| 36-tooth finishing blade | Finer finish cuts; the manual notes, “More teeth for finer finish cuts.” |
These are examples for the saw family covered by that manual, not a rule that every DeWalt saw should use a 24- or 36-tooth blade. DeWalt also identifies its 6-1/2-inch, 40-tooth DWA261240 as a fine-finish blade, illustrating that a higher tooth count can suit a different blade size and application. Confirm that product’s size and other specifications against your saw before considering it.

In general, a lower-tooth blade positioned for framing can favor faster rough cuts, while a blade designed for finishing can favor a cleaner cut. More teeth are not a universal upgrade: the right balance depends on the blade’s design, material, cut, and the saw’s compatibility requirements.

Follow your saw manual’s inspection and maintenance directions. Do not use a damaged blade, and replace a blade when it is dull rather than trying to compensate by forcing the saw through the work. The DWE575 manual warns that a dull blade can cut inefficiently, overload the motor, increase splintering, and increase the possibility of kickback.

A practical selection checklist
- Read the manual for your exact saw model.
- Confirm the blade diameter and arbor or center-hole size and shape match its specification.
- Verify the blade’s maximum RPM meets or exceeds the saw’s RPM, as required by the DWE575 manual, and follow the applicable specification for your model.
- If the saw has a riving knife, check its manual for blade kerf and body-thickness limits.
- Choose a blade labeled for the material and cut; weigh the desired finish against cutting speed rather than choosing by tooth count alone.
- Inspect the blade and replace it if damaged or dull, following the tool manual.
