Start with the opening, not a ranking
Retractable screens are not interchangeable across door types. A single entry door, a paired French-door opening, and a gliding patio door call for different configurations. Measure the opening and check the frame, trim, and installation instructions for the specific model; a screen that fits the nominal width may still be unsuitable if its mounting surface or surrounding trim does not match.
The manufacturer information cited here does not establish an apples-to-apples independent test ranking of six models. These six choices instead cover documented configurations and installation approaches.

Its brochure lists widths of 32–36 inches and height variants of 78–79 inches (short), 80–81 inches (standard), and 96–97 inches (tall); these are manufacturer specifications, not independently verified measurements. The screen uses a quick-snap track and surface mounting. Compare your actual opening and available trim with the product information and installation instructions before buying.

The brochure lists a 32–36-inch width for this model; confirm how that specification applies to your opening and check the model’s instructions before ordering. 4. Andersen retractable screen for compatible patio doors
Andersen says its retractable screen is designed for its 200 Series, 400 Series, and A-Series gliding patio doors. The manufacturer says it can be added to Andersen doors made from 1990 to the present and lists 11 color options. Those statements do not make it a universal patio-door screen: confirm the exact door series and configuration before ordering. Andersen lists DIY installation on its retractable patio screen page.

Phantom offers custom-built screens for single entry doors, with finish and mesh choices and professional installation through authorized installers. This is a different route from selecting a standard-size surface-mount model: confirm local installer availability and the finished configuration directly with the provider. Phantom also describes custom-built French-door and sliding-door screens. Ask the authorized installer to confirm how the screen will suit the opening and what finish and mesh choices apply. Standard-size, surface-mounted DIY route
LARSON describes Brisa as a surface-mount product and identifies a quick-snap track. That makes the actual mounting surface and available trim essential parts of the fit check. Follow the instructions for the exact Brisa model rather than relying only on a width measurement.

Custom, professionally installed route
Phantom describes its screens as custom-built and professionally installed through authorized installers. This route may suit an opening or finish requirement that does not match a standard-size product, but confirm the proposed configuration and installer service for your location before committing.
Brand-specific patio-door route
For the cited Andersen screen, door series compatibility is the first gate. Verify the patio door’s series and configuration; color choice or an apparently similar opening is not enough to establish compatibility.

Check warranty coverage before buying
Warranty terms differ, especially for mesh and fabric. LARSON’s Brisa limited lifetime warranty, as described for the double-door model, covers mechanical components and excludes screen fabric; it applies to the original purchaser in an owner-occupied home. Phantom says its limited lifetime warranty is for the original purchaser and excludes mesh. It also describes delivery and installation labor coverage for warranted components during the first 24 months. Review the provider’s warranty FAQ for the applicable terms.
When the opening is larger than a standard door
LARSON’s broader screen collection includes products for small, medium, and large openings, with sizes and operation varying by model.
