The exact steps depend on the model and panel; use the matching instructions below, and check your model’s manual if the controls differ.
Choose a temperature for your country and model
Samsung’s recommended settings vary by market. These are typical settings, not the same thing as food-safety thresholds, and your model’s manual takes precedence if it gives different guidance.

Samsung’s US guidance cites food-storage thresholds of below 40 °F for refrigerated food and below 0 °F for frozen food. Samsung Canada cites below 4 °C (40 °F) for the refrigerator and at or below -18 °C (0 °F) for the freezer. These thresholds are not a replacement for the preferred settings above. Identify your control panel and change the setting
Samsung says the exact control panel depends on the refrigerator model. Match the controls you see rather than following a menu path intended for another model. Samsung Support’s model-dependent temperature-setting guide shows examples.

Separate Fridge and Freezer buttons
- Wake the display if it is asleep.
- Press the Fridge or Freezer button repeatedly until the desired setting appears.
- On the button type described by Samsung US, each press lowers the setting by one degree or one bar; after the lowest setting, it cycles back to the highest. On models that confirm automatically, the displayed value is the selected setting.
Arrow buttons with a selection or O button
- Tap a key to wake the display if needed.
- Use the left or right arrows to highlight Fridge, Freezer, or FlexZone, then select it with the circle or O control.
- Use the arrows to choose the temperature and confirm if prompted. On the UK-described panel, the selection confirms after about five seconds.
Touchscreen or Family Hub
On touchscreen models, Samsung Canada says temperature options are in the settings menu. On Family Hub models, Samsung US directs owners to adjust temperature in SmartThings; older models may use Fridge Manager. Samsung Canada also describes Fridge Manager. The available app and exact path can vary by model and region, so consult the manual if the app menus do not match.
Twin Cooling display presets
For the Twin Cooling display types covered by Samsung UK, fridge presets are 1, 2, 3, 5, or 7 °C, and freezer presets are -23, -21, -19, -17, or -15 °C. The selection applies automatically. These are examples for those display types, not a range that applies to every Samsung fridge.

Do not confuse rapid cooling with a temperature setting
Power Cool and Power Freeze are temporary functions on certain models; they are not ordinary setpoint controls. Samsung UK says Power Cool can be activated by holding the Fridge button for three seconds on certain side-by-side Twin Cooling displays. Power Freeze can be activated by holding Freezer for three seconds and automatically switches off after 50 hours. Samsung notes that Power Freeze increases power consumption and recommends turning it off when it is no longer needed. Availability and activation can differ by model.
Check the actual temperature after changing it
The display shows a setpoint, not an immediate, uniform reading throughout the compartment. Samsung US says the panel display represents an average and that the back and bottom are colder. For a more useful measurement, place a thermometer in a glass of water near the center of the refrigerator, or between frozen packages in the freezer; a refrigerator thermometer is optional but can help verify the result. - INSTALLATION AND DIAGNOSIS – Disconnect refrigerator power before servicing. Inaccurate temperature readings or unstable cooling may also be caused by damaged wiring, fans, control boards or other components, so confirm the original sensor is faulty before replacement.
Samsung US says an accurate thermometer reading can take up to eight hours with the doors closed. If the refrigerator is above 40 °F or the freezer above 0 °F, Samsung advises lowering the setting, leaving the doors closed, and checking again after 28 hours. Samsung Canada likewise says stabilization can take up to 28 hours and recommends minimizing door openings during that time.

- Make sure the doors close fully and their seals are not obstructed.
- Avoid overcrowding the compartment or blocking airflow.
- Clean dusty condenser coils and ventilation areas as directed in the model manual.
If the temperature still does not come down, consult the exact model manual or contact Samsung Support. The temperature reading alone does not identify a failed part.
