Separate mixed loads and use Damp Alert if available
In a mixed load, lighter fabrics may contact the sensors and become dry before heavier items. On models with Damp Alert or Mixed Load Bell, the alert can signal at about 80 percent completion, giving you a chance to remove dry, lighter pieces and let heavier items continue. Damp Alert does not stop the cycle; Samsung notes that if the signal is missed or ignored, the cycle continues and heavier fabrics may still be damp. Availability and control names vary by model and cycle.
Review Dry Level and load size
Check the selected Dry Level; Samsung says a higher level may help with larger or bulkier loads when the option is available for that cycle. Sensor Dry may also be unreliable with an extremely small load. Samsung gives about four regular bath towels as an approximate minimum load guideline, not a calibration threshold. Consult your manual and use judgment for the fabrics involved rather than adding items that should not be dried together.

If a cycle takes too long
Clean the lint filter
Clean the lint filter before or after every cycle, as Samsung recommends. Lint buildup can restrict airflow and contribute to longer drying.
Check Eco Dry and the exhaust path

Manuals can change by model and revision. For example, Samsung’s model page for the DV40J3000EW/AC lists a version 10 English user manual modified September 22, 2025.
