Start by identifying your exact GEVI model and following its manual: reset, defrost and cleaning steps are not interchangeable across models. For basic ice-making problems, check water supply, ventilation and the model’s operating limits. If the machine leaks, stop using it and unplug it before inspecting it.
Before troubleshooting: identify the model
Find the model number on the appliance label, then open that model’s manual on GEVI Support. GEVI publishes separate instructions for different machines. In particular, do not combine button sequences or cleaning ratios from one model with another.
The checks below are external, user-level checks. Persistent pump, valve, sensor, fan, compressor or ice-making system faults need GEVI service rather than an improvised internal repair.
Why is the Add Water light on when the tank has water?
GEVI lists a blocked water screen and a pump or valve malfunction as possible causes. Check the screen at the reservoir for an obstruction. If your model has a cleaning cycle, observe whether water circulates during it. A suspected pump or valve problem should be referred to GEVI.

If your machine uses an automatic water supply, follow its manual’s instructions for that setup. The GIMN-1000B manual warns against manually adding water while its automatic supply is functioning, because doing so can cause overflow.
Why does Ice Full stay lit when the basket is empty?
- Check the ice outlet and sensor area and remove any obstruction.
- Restart the machine as directed in the manual for your exact model.
- If the light remains on, move the unit away from strong light that could interfere with the sensor.
If the false indication continues, a sensor fault is possible; contact GEVI rather than opening the appliance.

Why is my GEVI ice maker making little or no ice?
GEVI’s troubleshooting guidance identifies poor ventilation, water temperature, ambient temperature and possible system malfunction as things to check. Make sure the vents have room to breathe, the water supply is adequate and the water and room conditions fall within the limits in your model’s manual.
GIMN-1000B operating conditions
For the GIMN-1000B specifically, GEVI’s manual calls for 6 inches of clearance on all sides, water at 46°F–82°F (8°C–28°C) and an operating ambient temperature of 50°F–90°F (10°C–32°C). These are model-specific values, not specifications for every GEVI ice maker.

If setup and temperature conditions are correct but ice production remains poor, the cause may be an internal system fault. Contact GEVI for service.
What if Making or Cleaning lights stay on or flash?
Use the troubleshooting sequence in the manual for your exact model. For example, the GIMN-1000B manual describes defrosting as a temporary state that should end in about 30 minutes and gives model-specific restart alternatives. GEVI’s newer general troubleshooting page describes a separate clean/defrost process; its steps should not be substituted for the GIMN-1000B sequence.

Why is the ice maker unusually loud?
Some sound is expected. GEVI’s GIMN-1000B manual says, “The ice maker is designed to work quietly but will make some noise during operation.” Check for objects touching the unit, since contact can create resonance, and make sure ventilation and fan outlets are unobstructed.
GEVI’s noise guidance distinguishes resonance, squealing and fan noise, and recommends cleaning or defrosting for certain symptoms. It also suggests striking the shell to reduce a gap; that is manufacturer-published advice, not a general appliance-repair method. If the sound is excessive or persists after the manual’s appropriate checks, contact GEVI.
What should I do if water is leaking?
GEVI’s instruction is to stop using the ice maker and unplug it. Then check that it is level and that water was not added above the reservoir’s maximum line. If the appliance is connected to a water supply, the GIMN-1000B manual also identifies a leaking or improperly connected water pipe as a possible cause; inspect that external connection only if it applies to your installed setup.
If these checks do not explain the leak, do not keep operating the machine. GEVI asks customers to send support a video of the issue and request service.
How should I clean or descale it?
Follow the cleaning and descaling procedure in your model’s manual; GEVI’s product-specific instructions differ. For the GIMN-1000B, the manual recommends weekly cleaning/descaling, draining through the provided hoses, running self-clean mode with solution, then repeating fresh-water rinse cycles more than twice. It warns against organic solvent, boiled water, detergent, strong acid and strong alkali for descaling.
GEVI’s separate cleaning article gives a citric-acid-and-water dilution of 16:1 with a different rinse procedure. Do not transfer that ratio or procedure to another model unless its own instructions say to use it. Use only a cleaning solution compatible with your model and rinse as its manual directs.

When to contact GEVI
Contact GEVI if the checks in your model’s manual do not resolve the problem, or if you suspect an internal component fault. GEVI Support lists service requests, manuals, warranty and return/replacement pathways. Its page lists [email protected] and +1 855-992-2888 for English contact; check the support page for current hours. Warranty and return eligibility depend on current policy and your purchase details.
