Find the complete model code first, then verify the belt and repair instructions for that model before buying parts or taking the dryer apart.
Identify your dryer model and the correct belt
Locate the complete model code on the dryer’s rating label and use it for a model-specific parts lookup and repair guide. Samsung’s support page for the UK model DV90DG52A0AB, for example, organizes manuals and repair guides by model; regional availability and displayed document dates can vary. Samsung Support
Do not assume a belt number fits every Samsung dryer. Samsung Parts USA lists belt 6602-001655 for the specific model DV50K8600EV/AC; that listing is an example, not a universal recommendation. Confirm that a candidate part is compatible with your full model code, and check any stated dimensions or specifications against a reliable model-specific listing. Check whether a belt repair is appropriate
A drum that will not turn can be consistent with a broken belt, but that symptom alone does not confirm the cause. If you are not comfortable opening the cabinet, cannot find a guide for your exact model, or the diagnosis would require live-voltage testing, stop and arrange qualified service. Do not work on an energized dryer.

Prepare safely before opening the cabinet
- Unplug the dryer from electrical power. For a gas dryer, shut off the gas supply as well.
- Wear safety glasses and gloves; cabinet edges can be sharp.
- Have the model-specific repair guide available. The access sequence and fasteners can differ between cabinet designs, so do not treat another model’s screw locations or teardown as universal.
- Take photos of wiring and note screw locations as you remove parts. Keep track of connectors and fasteners for reassembly.

Replace the belt using the model-specific access procedure
The cited iFixit guide removes the top panel, door and bulkhead, then accesses the drum and idler arm. The exact access steps depend on the dryer. Follow a verified guide for your model rather than forcing panels or borrowing screw counts from a different machine.

Inspect the belt and idler pulley
Once the drum and belt area are accessible, remove broken belt fragments and inspect the idler wheel and arm. A failed belt may occur alongside an idler problem. The iFixit guide advises replacing the idler if it is damaged or missing, or if the belt has noticeable play or will not stay under tension. iFixit’s inspection and repair steps
Route and seat the replacement belt
In the cited guide’s configuration, the belt wraps around the drum, threads over the motor pulley, and passes around the idler pulley, which maintains tension. Follow the routing diagram for your model if it differs. Before reinstalling the bulkhead and door, check that the belt is aligned and seated cleanly and that the idler holds it under tension.

Reassemble and test the dryer
- Reinstall the drum, idler arm, bulkhead, door, and panels in the reverse order specified by the model-specific guide.
- Reconnect every harness and sensor disconnected during disassembly. Use your photos and notes to verify the connections; do not leave wiring trapped or pinched by a panel.
- Restore the gas supply if you shut it off, and reconnect electrical power only after the cabinet is fully reassembled.
- Run a test cycle and confirm that the dryer starts and the drum turns. If it does not, stop rather than probing live components; have a qualified technician diagnose it.
