The Jamie Oliver by Tefal rotating gas pizza oven is a compact, beginner-friendly option if you want gas-fired cooking and an easy way to turn a pizza without moving it on the stone. Its side dial rotates the cordierite stone, and the oven is designed for pizzas up to 12 inches. Reviewers report good results, but food can scorch near the flame, so placement and attention still matter.
How the rotating stone works
Instead of lifting or nudging a pizza mid-bake, turn the side dial to rotate the cordierite stone. That gives you a way to reposition the pizza while it cooks, without trying to slide a peel underneath it. T3 and Woman & Home reviewers found the mechanism helpful, particularly for making turning simpler.
Tefal describes the oven as reaching up to 400°C in around 20 minutes. T3 also reports a temperature of around 400°C for its review model. These are manufacturer and reviewer claims, not a temperature independently verified here. The oven is gas-fuelled and has no door, according to T3.
Size, weight and what comes in the box
This is a 12-inch-class oven, not a model for oversized pizzas. Which? lists a maximum pizza size of 12 inches and a 30.5 × 30.5 cm, 12 mm-thick stone for JM4168G0. Tefal lists foldable feet and a product weight of 12.5 kg; Which? lists 10.9 kg for the same JM4168G0 listing. The published weights differ, so check the specification for the exact regional model you are considering.

Tefal says the package includes the hose, gas regulator, rotating stone and pizza peel. A gas bottle is not included. T3’s review unit had a UK-spec regulator, piezo ignition, a rear burner, a folding peel and four fold-out legs; those reviewer-reported details may vary by market. Check that the supplied regulator and hose match your local gas supply and bottle before use.
What reviewers found in use
Turning and cooking
T3 reviewer Derek Adams tested the oven during a cold winter month and praised the ability to position the stone precisely. He reported that his pizzas cooked without unsatisfactory scorching. Woman & Home also praised the rotating base and reported an even cook in several tests, including a 12-inch margherita.

Why you still need to watch the flame
The rotating stone makes turning easier; it does not make cooking hands-off. Woman & Home reports that a pizza edge burned when it came too close to the flame, and nachos in a cast-iron pan caught fire before the reviewer adjusted placement and rotation. Keep food under observation and use placement and rotation to manage exposure to the burner.
Design and practical trade-offs
T3 says the oven’s appearance is not a strength. Its lack of a door is another design difference to consider when comparing models. The principal appeal is functional: gas operation paired with manual stone rotation, rather than a more automated turning system.

Which model number should you check?
Tefal’s UK product page and Which? identify the oven as JM4168G0; T3 reviewed JM4168G1. Treat those suffixes as regional or product-variant identifiers, not proof that every part or fitting is interchangeable. Before ordering a replacement stone, valve or other component, match the full model number on your oven to the compatibility information on the local parts listing.
Tefal’s UK accessories list includes a XA406000 cleaning brush and scraper, valve SS-9100054955, button SS-9100054954, front stone SS-9100054956, rotating stone SS-9100054953, pizza peel SS-9100056067, and a separately sold carry cover. Check the exact model fit and current availability rather than assuming a part listed for one suffix fits another.

The Woody may suit someone who values fuel flexibility more than a rotating base; the larger-capacity Ooni listing may be relevant if 12 inches is restrictive. The Tefal’s clearer fit is for someone who wants gas and manual turning in a compact format. Woman & Home’s comments about the Woody and Arc are that reviewer’s comparisons, not current pricing or comprehensive head-to-head test results.

Price and buying checks
Prices vary by retailer, country and date. T3 reported on 3 January 2025 that a promotion code reduced the price to £279.99 and that Amazon showed £315; these are historical observations, not current offers. Check the live price and exact model suffix on the seller’s listing.
- Confirm the full model number and that the regional gas fittings are compatible with your bottle.
- Check that the box includes the hose, regulator and peel as listed for your market; budget separately for a compatible gas bottle.
- Consider whether a 12-inch maximum pizza size and manual rather than powered turning suit how you cook.
- If portability matters, verify the listed weight and whether a carry cover is available; Tefal lists the cover separately.
Should you buy the Jamie Oliver by Tefal oven?
It is a plausible choice for a beginner or casual pizza maker who wants a gas oven with a simple manual turning mechanism and does not need pizzas larger than 12 inches. The rotation is its distinguishing convenience, while the need to watch flame exposure, the no-door design and the reported weight discrepancy are worth considering before purchase. T3’s positive cooking report and Woman & Home’s mixed experience describe those reviewers’ tests, not a guarantee of identical results for every cook.
