WOOD Magazine plan DP-00524 is a downloadable woodworking plan for a bed that converts from a crib to a toddler bed and then to a full bed. It is a plan—not a finished bed or a lumber kit—and its published overall dimensions are 57 × 32 × 44 inches for the crib, 57 × 32 × 43 inches for the toddler bed, and 57 × 83 × 43 inches for the full bed.

What the DP-00524 plan includes

The project is a three-stage “Sleep System.” Woodcraft describes it as a bed that starts as a crib, changes into a toddler bed, and later becomes a full bed. The conversion uses decorative connector bolts and concealed cross dowels, according to the vendor listing. The plan is associated with WOOD Issue 173 (November 2006); the publisher’s page displays an update date of January 2, 2025.

DP-00524 is offered as a downloadable plan. Buying it does not provide the completed bed or the lumber and hardware needed to build one. Woodcraft and FamilyHomePlans list the plan at $14.95; FamilyHomePlans describes its download as an 8-1/2 × 11-inch PDF. These are listed prices and may change, so check the seller’s current page before purchase. Woodcraft plan listing · FamilyHomePlans plan listing

What to verify before building

The public listings do not provide the complete cut list, hardware schedule, mattress dimensions, or safety instructions. Do not estimate lumber quantities, select a mattress from the outside dimensions, or infer slat spacing from product photos or the overall measurements. Use the purchased plan for its specifications and assembly details, and verify the intended mattress fit from the plan’s internal dimensions.

The available product information does not establish that the design meets current crib-safety requirements. Before constructing or using it as a crib, consult applicable current safety requirements and confirm that the complete plan provides the details needed for a safe build. The published description and overall measurements alone are not a safety assessment.
