How the DL100 lets you unlock the door
The DL100 offers several ways to operate the deadbolt, depending on whether you are at home, away or dealing with a connectivity issue:
- Wi-Fi: Use the Tapo app for remote control when the lock is connected to Wi-Fi.
- Bluetooth: Use local Bluetooth access when you are near the lock.
- Keypad: Enter a PIN on the backlit keypad.
- Physical keys: Use the included key-based access path as a backup.
- Voice assistants: The lock supports Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Samsung SmartThings. Voice unlocking requires PIN verification.
Remote operation depends on the lock being connected to Wi-Fi; Bluetooth is a local option, not a substitute for remote access. TP-Link’s launch announcement describes the product and availability: TP-Link’s May 27, 2025 launch release.
Access codes and household management
The Tapo app supports up to 200 access codes. TP-Link lists permanent, one-time and scheduled code types, which can be useful for household members, visitors or time-limited access. The product page also describes activity logs, alerts, auto-lock and a decoy-digit feature that lets users enter extra digits around the real PIN.

These features provide ways to manage entry, but they do not establish that every access event will be recorded or that alerts will arrive under every network condition. Check the current Tapo app and product documentation for setup requirements and behavior.
Battery life and emergency power
TP-Link claims up to seven months in Wi-Fi mode or up to ten months in Bluetooth mode. Those are manufacturer estimates based on laboratory testing at 20 unlocks per day, not independent test results; actual battery life can vary with use and conditions. The lock uses four AA/LR6 batteries, and four are included. TP-Link also lists a USB-C port for emergency power.

Security rating and outdoor exposure
TP-Link’s launch release cites BHMA Grade 3 certification. Its product specifications list IP54 exterior weather resistance, 128-bit AES encryption with SSL/TLS, and WPA/WPA2-PSK/WPA3 support. These are the manufacturer’s stated ratings and security specifications; they are not a guarantee against every physical or network threat.
For a door exposed to weather, IP54 is the stated exterior rating. Confirm that the lock’s installation location and exposure suit the product, and follow TP-Link’s installation and care guidance.

Check door fit before buying
TP-Link says the DL100 installs on a standard deadbolt without drilling extra holes. That does not confirm compatibility with every door, existing deadbolt or trim configuration, so compare your door and lock measurements with the product requirements before ordering.

The May 27, 2025 announcement listed a $59.99 launch price and availability through Amazon and Best Buy. That figure is a historical launch price; current prices, stock and regional availability may differ. Check the retailer listing and confirm the model revision before buying.
What to weigh before choosing it
The DL100’s main practical distinction is the choice of access methods: remote Wi-Fi app control, nearby Bluetooth, keypad entry, physical keys and supported voice control with PIN verification. Its code capacity, battery estimates, emergency-power port, stated certification and weather rating, and measured assembly dimensions can help determine whether it suits a particular home.

Those specifications do not establish how the DL100 compares in durability, reliability, ease of installation or value against other smart deadbolts.
