Counter Tested named USA Pan its best nonstick sheet in a 2026 roundup; Food Network named Chicago Metallic its best nonstick in a separate 2026 roundup. Epicurious’s 2024 testing adds a useful caveat for USA Pan: its vegetables browned well, but its cookies came out too crisp for the testers. These are publication-reported findings, not tests conducted by this site.
How these two pans earned a place in the comparison
The available reviews support comparing the pans, not declaring one a universal winner. Counter Tested reports testing eight baking sheets and selected USA Pan as its best nonstick option. Food Network’s separate 2026 roundup chose Chicago Metallic Professional Nonstick. Because the outlets used different candidate sets and methods, their results are not a direct comparison.
That distinction matters most if you are choosing for a particular job: the reported results differ on cookie texture, while both pans have positive release-related findings. The model names below refer to those reviewed products; confirm that a listing’s coating, dimensions, and construction match before buying.
USA Pan Half Sheet Baking Pan
What the reviews found
Counter Tested describes the pan as aluminized steel with a corrugated surface and reports that food released well in its testing. Its reported methods included cookie browning, heat mapping, warp resistance, thermal shock, food release, and cleanup. Those methods and observations belong to Counter Tested’s tested set; they do not establish how the pan will perform under every oven temperature or use condition. Epicurious’s 2024 comparison gives a more qualified picture: vegetables browned nicely, but cookies were too crisp for its testers. That makes the USA Pan a less certain choice if your priority is softer cookies, even though its release and vegetable-browning results were favorable in the cited reviews. Read Epicurious’s baking-sheet comparison.
Trade-offs and price context
- Consider it for: Roasted vegetables and a reviewed nonstick option with reported good food release.
- Keep in mind: Epicurious found its cookies too crisp, and Counter Tested notes that food can lodge in the corrugations, making cleanup less straightforward.
- Price: Counter Tested listed it at $19.99 on March 31, 2026. That is a dated article price, not a current quote.
Chicago Metallic Professional Nonstick Baking Sheet
What the reviews found
Food Network named this pan its best nonstick in a 2026 roundup. The review describes a silicone-based coating, even heating, and a wire-reinforced lip; it also reports that sticky foods released in its testing. These are Food Network’s findings, not a side-by-side result against USA Pan. Read Food Network’s 2026 baking-sheet review.
Trade-offs and price context
- Consider it for: A coated pan with reported even heating and release of sticky foods.
- Keep in mind: Food Network says it should not be used under a broiler. Its review calls the pan dishwasher safe, while noting that hand washing generally helps extend product life. Follow the current care instructions for the exact model you buy.
- Price: Food Network displayed $18 when its page was accessed. This is a page-access snapshot, not a current offer.
Which one should you choose?
| Priority | Better-supported choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Roasted vegetables | USA Pan | Epicurious reported nicely browned vegetables in its 2024 comparison. |
| Cookie texture | Neither is a clear winner from the available findings | Epicurious found USA Pan cookies too crisp; the cited Food Network review does not establish a comparable cookie result for Chicago Metallic. |
| Sticky-food release | Chicago Metallic | Food Network reported release of sticky foods in its testing. |
| Cleanup concerns | Chicago Metallic, with care caveats | Food Network calls it dishwasher safe; Counter Tested says USA Pan’s corrugations can trap food. Hand washing may help product life, according to Food Network. |
| Broiler use | USA Pan, only if its current instructions permit your intended use | Food Network says Chicago Metallic should not be used under a broiler; the cited sources do not establish a corresponding broiler rating for USA Pan. |
Neither review establishes that its pan cannot warp, rust, or peel after a year. Reinforced rims and reported warp-resistance methods are not guarantees against damage: temperature changes, misuse, and the exact product’s care guidance matter. Counter Tested’s high-heat and thermal-shock methods apply to the pans in its own test set, not to every baking sheet or every kitchen condition.

Before you buy: verify size, coating, and care
- Check the exact model and dimensions. “Half sheet” is not enough to confirm that a particular pan fits your oven or matches the reviewed version.
- Read current care instructions. Coatings and manufacturer guidance can vary by model and change over time; do not assume dishwasher or broiler suitability from a different product listing.
- Compare current price and availability. The review-page prices above are historical snapshots, not live offers.
Want a non-coated alternative?
Nordic Ware sells both coated and uncoated half sheets, which are not interchangeable recommendations. Its Naturals Baker’s Half Sheet is uncoated aluminum, so it is not a nonstick-coated pan; parchment paper or a silicone baking mat can provide a release surface. Nordic Ware’s separate Naturals Nonstick Half Sheet Pan Set of 2 has a gold silicone coating, an encapsulated steel rim, and the manufacturer claim “Made without PFAS.” The manufacturer page displayed a $40 MSRP and the set as out of stock when accessed in 2026; check its current listing and availability before relying on either detail.
