Ideas for a Thanksgiving table
1. Hand-painted thankful centerpiece
Start with a wide-mouth quart jar, paint it white, then add “thankful” or another short seasonal design with a gold fine-tip paint marker. A stencil or vinyl lettering can help make the wording neat; cord around the neck is an optional finishing touch. 2. Painted pumpkin jar

3. Fall flower vase

Ideas for translucent decor and lighting
5. Tissue-paper fall luminary
Brush decoupage medium or diluted white glue over a clean jar and apply overlapping squares of fall-colored tissue paper. Add a ribbon or twine accent when the paper is in place. 7. Jar light holder
Use a decorated jar as a light holder with a battery-operated tea light. San Diego Family describes a battery-operated light as “battery-operated is safest.” Gathered’s candle-holder ideas warns that a real tea light can make the jar rim very hot. Do not treat paper, glue, paint, dried flowers, or twine as tested for use around an open flame.

8. Lettered jar with a stencil or vinyl
Use a smooth-sided jar, then add a word or short message with a premade stencil or cut vinyl letters. Trace the letters with a fine-tip marker for a simple personalized finish. 9. Family gratitude jar
Decorate a smooth-sided jar, set out slips of paper, and invite family members to add something they are thankful for. Gather supplies and pick a finish
Most projects need only a clean glass jar plus a few materials suited to the look you want. Reuse a jar if it is clean and the shape works; smooth sides help with lettering, while a wide mouth is convenient for a centerpiece or light holder.
