The YETI LoadOut GoBox 15 and GoBox 30 are hard gear cases for organizing and protecting equipment, not insulated coolers. Choose the GoBox 15 when a compact footprint and easier carrying matter most. Choose the GoBox 30 when you need a wider load area for climbing equipment, a camp pantry, boat gear or a truck kit.
Both cases carry YETI’s IP65 and IP67 ratings, include a removable caddy and are covered by a five-year warranty. The main decision is therefore size: the 15 is a portable essentials box, while the 30 gives you more horizontal storage and more room to divide equipment.

YETI does not publish an interior-volume figure in the current FAQ, so external dimensions are the clearest direct comparison. The GoBox 30 is almost twice as long while having nearly the same width and height, creating a much wider loading area.

According to YETI’s FAQ, IP65 protects the enclosed contents from a blast of water, while IP67 means the enclosure remains dry for 30 minutes after submersion in 1 meter of water. Those ratings describe protection under specified test conditions; they are not a guarantee for every real-world situation, such as prolonged submersion, damaged seals or an improperly closed lid.

The ratings also do not turn either GoBox into a cooler. YETI explicitly says the GoBox is not insulated and is not intended to keep food or drinks cold. Use it as a dry gear case for equipment, supplies and tools, and use a purpose-built cooler when temperature control is required.
Choosing the right size
Choose the GoBox 15 for compact essentials
The GoBox 15 measures 10.2 × 14.7 × 11.3 inches and weighs 6.1 pounds before its included accessories. Its smaller footprint is easier to carry through a jobsite, load into a vehicle with limited cargo space or place beside other equipment. It suits a focused kit: hand tools, recovery items, camera or electronic equipment, first-aid supplies, or the small collection of hardware you want protected and easy to find.

Because it accepts one caddy, the 15 works best when you want a single upper-level organizer rather than several compartments. Its compact shape also makes it practical to deploy multiple boxes for separate categories instead of putting every item into one large case.
Choose the GoBox 30 for wide or mixed loads
The GoBox 30 measures 20.4 × 14.8 × 11.3 inches and weighs 9.2 pounds before accessories. The extra length is useful for longer tools, climbing equipment, a camp pantry, boat equipment or a truck kit that would be awkward to arrange in the 15.

The 30 includes one divider and can fit two caddies, allowing you to separate frequently used items from bulkier equipment or keep clean and dirty gear apart. Remember that the case itself weighs 9.2 pounds before you add contents, so a fully loaded 30 is less convenient to carry over distance than a 15.
Organization, stacking and transport
Each GoBox includes one caddy. The 15 has room for one caddy; the 30 has room for two and includes a divider. That distinction matters more than the accessory count: the 30 can create multiple zones inside one case, while the 15 favors a simpler, compact layout.

Two GoBox 15 cases stack on a GoBox 30. This gives you a modular setup: use separate 15s for specialized kits and place them on the wider 30 when transporting a larger load. Check the final arrangement and vehicle clearance before loading, especially if the cases will ride under a tonneau cover, shelving or a workbench.

For vehicle or trailer transport, consider how you will secure the case against sliding or tipping. A GoBox Tie-Down Kit is an optional accessory; it is not part of the standard caddy or divider package described above. Confirm the accessory’s fit and your anchor points before relying on it for a particular truck, boat or trailer setup.

Durability and security considerations
The GoBox format is designed as a hard enclosure, so it protects contents from impact and keeps dust and water out more effectively than an open tote or soft bag. The IP ratings help when equipment is exposed to spray, rain, mud or a brief accidental dunk.
Protection still depends on basic maintenance. Close the lid fully, keep the sealing surfaces free of grit and inspect the case after drops or impacts. A cracked shell, distorted lid or damaged gasket can compromise enclosure performance even though the product carries an IP rating.
The GoBox protects and organizes gear but is not a theft-proof safe. In an unattended vehicle or open work area, use an appropriate physical tie-down or security method and avoid leaving valuable equipment visible.
How to decide in a construction or field kit
- List the equipment that must stay together. If the kit is limited to essentials and short tools, start with the GoBox 15. If it includes long, bulky or mixed-purpose gear, measure the items and compare them with the GoBox 30’s 20.4-inch length.
- Account for carrying distance. Add the case’s empty weight—6.1 pounds for the 15 or 9.2 pounds for the 30—to the estimated contents. Choose the smaller case if workers will carry it repeatedly across a site.
- Plan the internal layout. Select the 30 when two caddies or the included divider will save time during setup and retrieval. Select the 15 when one compact organizer is enough.
- Check storage and stacking space. The 15 and 30 share nearly the same width and height, but the 30 is substantially longer. Two 15s can stack on one 30 if a modular arrangement fits your vehicle or shelving.
- Separate dry storage from temperature control. Put tools and supplies in a GoBox, but use an insulated cooler for food or drinks that must remain cold.
Warranty and ownership expectations
YETI lists a five-year warranty for both GoBox models. Keep purchase documentation and inspect the case promptly after delivery so any shipping damage, lid alignment issue or seal problem can be addressed under the applicable warranty terms.
Verdict
YETI’s own guidance says the cargo-box size “mostly comes down to a matter of preference for your pursuit.” In practical terms, the GoBox 15 is the better fit for a portable, compact essentials kit. The GoBox 30 is the better fit for wider loads, multiple organizers and equipment that benefits from a divider. Neither should replace a cooler, but both offer a rugged, water- and dust-resistant way to keep field gear contained and accessible.
