Privacy
The directory counts what is read, never who reads it.
Readers
A page view and a click on a Visit button are counted with a daily code made from your connection and browser, salted and one-way: it cannot be turned back into who you are, and it changes every day. No internet address is ever stored.
Your choice of light or dark is kept in your own browser.
Makers
A maker’s desk keeps the work email, name, company and website the maker gives. Sign-in codes are kept only as one-way hashes for ten minutes; a passkey is kept only as its public key. A signed-in maker has one cookie, for the session. Orders keep the buyer’s details and the order’s own history.
To stop abuse, how many codes and orders come from one connection is counted with that same kind of salted, one-way code.
Others who see something
Card payments are taken by Dodo Payments on its own page. Letters go out through the site’s own mail server. The articles carry Google’s ads with Google’s consent tool, and the site counts its traffic with Yorker Media’s own analytics.
