Xiaomi’s Robot Vacuum 6 Max is an unusually ambitious flagship robot vacuum. It combines a claimed maximum suction pressure of 35,000Pa with bionic mechanical legs designed to cross single vertical obstacles up to 6cm, a continuously washed roller mop, extending edge-cleaning hardware, and a hot-water self-maintaining dock.
Those headline features are based primarily on Xiaomi’s published specifications and laboratory claims. The product launched in China in March 2026, but a U.S. retail price, warranty, and confirmed U.S. availability were not established by the sources reviewed.

What exactly launched?
The product is officially called the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 6 Max on Xiaomi’s current global product page. Launch coverage also refers to it as the Mi Robot Vacuum and Mop 6 Max. Those names appear to describe the same flagship model, but the naming discrepancy is worth noting.

Coverage of the launch dates it to March 11, 2026. Xiaomi positions the 6 Max as its most advanced and powerful robot vacuum within its own Robot Vacuum range, not necessarily as the most advanced model on the entire market. Xiaomi’s comparison footnote limits that claim to its own products as of March 12, 2026.

What do the robotic legs actually do?
The “robotic legs” are not humanoid legs, and they do not turn the vacuum into a general stair-climbing machine. Xiaomi describes them as bionic dual mechanical legs intended to help the robot traverse a single vertical obstacle or door threshold up to 6cm high.
That could matter in homes with raised transitions between rooms, balconies, kitchens, or other floor-level changes that commonly stop conventional round robot vacuums. Ordinary models can struggle because their wheel diameter, chassis clearance, traction, and center of gravity are not designed to lift the body over a steep, isolated step.

However, “up to 6cm” is a company claim made under specified conditions, not a guarantee for every threshold. Actual performance can depend on the obstacle’s shape, width, surface material, slipperiness, approach angle, available landing space, and whether it is genuinely a single vertical transition. The mechanism should not be interpreted as support for climbing ordinary staircases or a series of steps.
What does 35,000Pa suction mean?
Xiaomi rates the 6 Max at up to 35,000Pa of suction pressure. That is a striking specification, but it is not a standardized whole-home cleaning score.
According to Xiaomi’s product-page qualification, the maximum vacuum pressure was measured at the fan blower with a vacuum gauge while the motor was powered by an external supply. The result comes from Xiaomi’s internal laboratory.
Maximum pressure at or near the blower is only one part of cleaning performance. Real pickup also depends on:
- Airflow through the fully assembled vacuum and its filters;
- Brush agitation and contact with the floor;
- The robot’s cleaning pattern and edge reach;
- Carpet pile, hard-floor texture, and debris type;
- Battery level, operating mode, and the condition of consumables.
For that reason, 35,000Pa should be read as Xiaomi’s maximum pressure rating, not proof that the 6 Max will outperform every robot with a lower published number. Cross-brand Pa figures should not be compared directly unless the manufacturers use comparable test methods.

A more complex vacuum-and-mopping system
The 6 Max’s unusual hardware extends beyond its legs. Xiaomi says the robot uses a roller-based mopping system with 16 water outlets. The roller is washed continuously during mopping, while the system simultaneously scrapes and washes it.
Xiaomi says constant-pressure mopping is intended to tackle semi-dried messes such as coffee and ketchup. That describes the intended behavior rather than independently verified stain-removal performance, so users should still remove large, sticky, or hazardous spills manually.
Three extending cleaning mechanisms
The robot has three mechanisms designed to reduce the uncleaned strip around walls, corners, and furniture:
- An extendable side brush for edges and corners;
- A mechanical-arm roller for cleaning close to walls;
- An extendable corner-cleaning mop pad for furniture legs and difficult edges.
Xiaomi also describes a triple-lift design that raises the brush, roller, or mop components according to the cleaning mode, detected liquid, or docking operation. The system includes a hair-cutting main brush and an anti-tangle side brush.
These features suggest broader theoretical coverage than a basic fixed-brush robot. They also add moving parts that can interact with cables, tassels, toys, pet items, and irregular furniture bases. Hair-cutting hardware can reduce tangles, but it does not eliminate the need to inspect and clean brushes periodically.
Xiaomi says its edge-cleaning system has TÜV Rheinland certification. That should not be treated as a blanket certification of the robot’s overall cleaning quality, reliability, or stain-removal performance.
AI navigation, obstacle avoidance, and stain recognition
The 6 Max combines a triple-camera AI obstacle-avoidance system with 360-degree LiDAR scanning. Xiaomi says it can recognize more than 200 common obstacles, more than 80 furniture types, and 47 types of stains.
In Xiaomi’s cited breakdown, those categories amount to 327 item and stain types. The company separately describes recognition of 280 item types, which appears to exclude the stain categories. This is why the figures should not be presented as contradictory totals without explaining how they are counted.
Xiaomi also claims detection of wired earphones as small as 3mm in diameter. Recognition can vary with lighting, floor color, object size, clutter, camera visibility, and the layout of the home.

The robot is designed to distinguish dry particles, liquids, and solid-liquid mixtures. Xiaomi says that when it identifies liquid, the brush lifts and suction switches off to reduce the risk of water entering the dust compartment. For a solid-liquid mixture, it may bypass the area and notify the user through Xiaomi Home.
These are useful safeguards, but AI recognition is not a guarantee against smearing, missed objects, or water damage. Large spills, pet accidents, vomit, feces, syrup, and other thick or hazardous messes should be dealt with manually.

How low can the robot go?
A retractable LiDAR system allows the robot to enter spaces Xiaomi rates at as low as 9.3cm of clearance. The robot reportedly avoids low areas while mapping and then cleans standard-height areas before returning to those spaces.
The measurement is not a guarantee that every sofa or bed with 9.3cm of nominal clearance will work. A low front lip, angled underside, narrow approach, or insufficient turning room can prevent entry or exit. If the robot repeatedly becomes trapped, Xiaomi Home supports restricted areas and virtual walls.
What does the dock automate?
The dock automatically collects dust, washes the mop components, and dries them with hot air. Xiaomi says the dock washes with water above 85°C and dries with air above 50°C.

That is a test scenario, not a fixed replacement interval. A larger home, multiple pets, heavier debris, or more frequent cleaning can fill the bag much sooner.
Automated docking reduces daily labor but does not make the system maintenance-free. Owners still need to manage clean and dirty water, inspect filters and water channels, replace the dust bag, and clean hair and residue from moving components. Hot-water washing and hot-air drying may also increase energy use.

Smart-home features and privacy
The Xiaomi Home app supports scheduling, remote operation, restricted zones, AI-recognition controls, and video monitoring. Xiaomi says users can view the home remotely and check on pets through the app. The product page describes one-way remote video calls rather than a two-way conversational feature.
The 6 Max is also listed as compatible with Google Assistant and Alexa-enabled devices, although availability can vary by region, language, account configuration, and compatible hardware. Xiaomi HyperOS Connect can link cleaning routines with other Xiaomi smart-home products.

Camera features bring a practical privacy trade-off. Buyers should review app permissions, account security, camera settings, and the locations in which remote monitoring is enabled. Users who do not want cameras inside the home may prefer to leave AI video features disabled.
Battery capacity and expected runtime
Xiaomi lists a 6,400mAh nominal battery. The available product information does not provide a single universal runtime figure, so battery capacity alone should not be converted into an estimated floor area or cleaning time.
Runtime will vary with suction mode, mopping, carpet boost, obstacle traversal, camera use, floor area, and whether the robot has to recharge and resume cleaning. The 35,000Pa maximum rating is likewise not evidence that the robot operates at that level continuously.

- Firmware language and voice-assistant support;
- Electrical compatibility and any plumbing requirements;
- Availability of rollers, brushes, dust bags, filters, and water-system parts;
- Shipping, taxes, reseller margins, and local warranty coverage.
The water-supply-and-drainage version may require suitable fixed plumbing, making it less practical for renters or homes without an appropriate installation point.
Who should consider the Robot Vacuum 6 Max?
The 6 Max is most interesting for households with raised single thresholds, pets, frequent hair and food debris, difficult furniture legs, or an existing Xiaomi smart-home setup. It may also appeal to buyers willing to wait for an official regional release or accept the risks of importing a China-market machine.
Caution is warranted for homes with multiple steps, thresholds above 6cm, thick shag carpet, tasselled rugs, loose cables, or heavy clutter. Buyers who require straightforward U.S. warranty service should also wait for confirmed local availability rather than assuming that a global product page guarantees domestic support.
The main trade-off is complexity. Mechanical legs, extending arms, cameras, retractable LiDAR, a roller mop, and a hot-water dock may improve coverage and automation, but they also create more moving parts and more maintenance than a basic robot vacuum. Higher suction modes may increase noise and power consumption, while extending brushes and mop arms may have more opportunities to catch on loose objects.
How it compares with Xiaomi’s other models
Xiaomi’s Robot Vacuum 5 Pro has a published 20,000Pa suction rating along with AI obstacle recognition, a front camera, retractable radar, extendable cleaning hardware, and an automated dock. It may suit buyers who want Xiaomi’s navigation and smart-home features without specifically needing the 6 Max’s mechanical legs.
The Robot Vacuum H50 Pro lists 15,000Pa suction and focuses on dual robotic arms for edge and corner cleaning, rotary mops, and an all-in-one base station. It is a potentially more suitable Xiaomi option for buyers prioritizing edge cleaning but not requiring the 6cm threshold claim.

Bottom line
The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum 6 Max stands out because its mechanical legs address a real weakness of many robot vacuums: isolated raised thresholds between rooms. Its 35,000Pa rating, roller-based mopping, extending cleaning mechanisms, camera-assisted recognition, and hot-water dock make it one of Xiaomi’s most feature-packed launches.
But the important qualifications are just as significant. The 6cm traversal figure applies to single obstacles under Xiaomi’s conditions, 35,000Pa is an internal-lab maximum pressure measurement rather than a universal cleaning score, and the 75-day dust-bag claim depends on a specified test household. For U.S. buyers, the biggest unresolved question is practical ownership: confirmed regional availability, app compatibility, warranty, parts, and price.
