The FDA has identified specific cookware products sold under brands including 3B Cookware, Sonex, IKM, A-Cook, Silver Horse, Chef/Majestic Chef, Royal Kitchen Cookware, Tiger White, JK Vallabhdas and Dolphin as potentially able to leach lead into food. The warning applies to named products—not automatically to every item sold under those brands—and the FDA says its list is not exhaustive.
Cookware products named in the FDA warning
The FDA’s imported-cookware warning page lists tested products and associated retailer, manufacturer or distributor information. The agency says its analysis found that the products may leach lead into food. The page showed a table update dated December 3, 2025; check the current FDA warning for any later changes.

These are product identifications, not findings about every product sold by a company or under a brand. The FDA explicitly cautions that potentially affected cookware may include products beyond those listed.

IKM and A-Cook products
In its January 23, 2026 notice, the FDA posted an IKM recall announcement covering A-Cook Aluminum Kadai size 5, Brass Tope, IKM 4-quart Pital brass pot, and IKM Aluminum saucepan with wooden handle, 9 inches. The company said the products could contain significant lead that may leach into food. The FDA said routine sampling found elevated lead in finished products and that no illnesses had been reported at the time of the notice. The notice described distribution to grocery stores in a number of California cities. For exact product appearance and return details, consult the current IKM recall notice.

Chef Brand / Majestic Chef milk pan
The FDA’s November 19, 2025 recall announcement says retail samples of the Chef Brand Milk Pan 24 cm, identified as Majestic Chef Pan, contained leachable lead. The notice lists distribution in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia and Massachusetts, and asks consumers to stop using the pan and return it to the retailer for a refund. Why the FDA flagged these products
The warning concerns certain imported cookware made from aluminum, brass and aluminum alloys sold as Hindalium/Hindolium or Indalium/Indolium. FDA testing found potential for lead to leach into food under conditions designed to mimic food contact. The issue is not simply that cookware contains a particular metal; the concern is lead leaching during use for cooking or food storage.

In a December 12, 2024 letter to cookware retailers and distributors, the FDA said the issue came to its attention through work with the Public Health Department of Seattle and King County on imported cookware testing and associated high blood-lead levels in resettled refugee populations. The agency said it placed manufacturer Rashko Baba Co. Ltd. on an import alert to help prevent further sale of those products in the United States, and warned that similar products could remain on the market.

What to do if you own a listed pan or pot
- Compare the exact product. Check the name, material, size and other identifying details against the FDA warning and any linked recall notice. A brand name alone does not establish that a particular item is affected.
- Stop using cookware that matches the warning. The FDA advises consumers to throw away cookware that may leach lead into food during cooking or food storage. Do not donate or refurbish it.
- Use recall instructions where available. For the IKM/A-Cook or Chef/Majestic Chef items, follow the current recall notice for return or refund directions.
- Ask a health-care provider about possible exposure. If you are concerned about exposure or elevated lead levels, contact a health-care provider.
How the FDA assesses leachable lead
The FDA’s December 2024 letter says retailers and distributors are responsible for ensuring cookware marketed for food contact is safe for its intended use and complies with FDA regulations. It notes that methods for testing leachable lead are available and points to an FDA protocol. The cited method adapts a foodware extraction procedure for cookware: a two-hour boil, followed by cooling and holding at room temperature until the total extraction period reaches 24 hours. This is a test-method detail, not a claim that every item made from aluminum or brass is unsafe.
