Architectural Digest reported on April 3, 2026, that Gaga primarily resides in Malibu. Its account supports Malibu as her reported home base, but does not establish that she has no other residence. The property is private, so the city-level description is the appropriate limit.
What is known about the Malibu estate?
Architectural Digest describes the property as a Tuscan villa-style estate of 10,270 square feet on nearly six acres, across from Zuma Beach. Those are outlet-reported details, not a current property inspection or independent measurement.
The outlet reports amenities including a saltwater pool and hot tub, rose gardens, ocean-view outdoor spaces, a horse barn, dressage ring, riding arena, pastures and riding trails. It also lists a wine cellar, home theater, wet bar and a 1960s-era bowling alley. The reported purchase price was $22.5 million; that is a historical transaction figure, not a current valuation.

Why Gaga called it her sanctuary
In Vogue’s September 10, 2018, profile, Gaga described the Malibu home as “my sanctuary” and “my oasis of peace,” adding that she called it her “gypsy palace.” She said she had bought it about four years earlier and was spending more time there. Those remarks describe her circumstances at the time of the interview, not necessarily every later year.
In the same interview, Gaga explained why she had left her New York place: “I just got rid of my place in New York—it was too hectic every day outside on the street.” The contrast was between the retreat she found in Malibu and the activity outside her former New York home.

Gaga’s earlier residences and rentals are part of her property history, not evidence of additional current homes. Architectural Digest’s retrospective recounts a Lower East Side apartment, a Bel Air rental and a Central Park South rental, as well as the Malibu purchase.
The Hollywood Hills property associated with musician Frank Zappa is another historical chapter. Architectural Digest reports that Gaga bought it in 2016 and sold it in 2021 for $6.5 million. Contemporaneous 2016 coverage was less definitive: Mansion Global reported that the buyer was shielded by a trust and that Gaga was believed to be the beneficiary, citing Variety. That distinction matters when describing what was publicly known at the time.
