Northwestern University is renovating Bobb and McCulloch in phases: Bobb is listed as closed through summer 2026 and set to reopen in fall 2026, while McCulloch is scheduled to close from summer 2026 through summer 2027. The university’s Facilities page gives August 2027 as the overall occupancy date. The published project information describes the work and schedule, but does not establish what appears in any particular video.
Why Northwestern is renovating the complex
The project covers 104,000 gross square feet (104K GSF) in the Bobb-McCulloch complex. Northwestern Facilities says it will prioritize stabilizing the buildings by addressing deferred maintenance, then direct remaining funds toward improvements to the student experience. Bobb and McCulloch are separate but connected residence halls. A February 27, 2025 announcement from Northwestern Student Affairs said the two halls housed more than 400 undergraduate students between them and that work was to begin in June 2025. The dates refer to different scopes: the hall-specific reopening is for Bobb, while the Facilities page’s August 2027 occupancy date applies to the overall project. Northwestern’s construction map gives the closure windows below. Construction schedules can change, so residents should check the live campus map and Residential Services pages for current notices.

What improvements Northwestern has announced
Bobb-side features listed by Residential Services
Residential Services lists a new entrance on the Bobb side, elevators, reconfigured bathrooms, central air conditioning, and luxury vinyl tile (LVT) flooring among the updates. Its hall listing also describes doubles and triples, community-style bathrooms, convection heating and cooling units, first-floor laundry, and a full kitchen. These are published hall-level details; they should not be read as confirmation that every feature applies in the same way to both buildings or every room.

Floor amenities announced in 2025
In its February 2025 announcement, Northwestern said laundry rooms and kitchenettes would be added to every floor. The announcement framed the project more broadly around accessibility, opportunities for engagement, and infrastructure improvements. This is a dated description of the university’s plan, not independent confirmation that each amenity is complete.

- Use the hall-specific construction windows to understand which side is affected; the two halls do not share one closure and reopening date.
- Distinguish the Bobb fall 2026 reopening from the Facilities page’s August 2027 overall occupancy target.
- Check Northwestern’s current construction map and Residential Services listing for changes to dates, housing arrangements, or building specifications.
What the published project information says about the video
The available university project descriptions support an account of the renovation plans and sequence, but do not verify the footage, publication date, or transcript of a specific video titled “Look inside the Bobb-McCulloch renovation.” They therefore do not establish which rooms, construction activities, completed features, or speakers appear in it.
