The Ultimea Poseidon D60 is worth considering if you want inexpensive physical surround sound, but it is not a true height-channel Dolby Atmos system. It combines a soundbar, wireless subwoofer and two rear speakers into a 5.1 package. The newer version adds app control and equalizer adjustments, while older D60 units may not support the app.
Its best qualities are the genuine rear-channel separation, broad connectivity and clear improvement over built-in TV speakers. Its important limitations are the lack of upward-firing drivers, underwhelming bass, wired rear speakers, no DTS decoding and budget-level construction.

The Poseidon D60 is a standalone 5.1-channel soundbar system made up of:
- One soundbar with three 2.25-inch drivers
- Two rear surround speakers, each with one 2.25-inch driver
- One subwoofer with a 5.25-inch driver
That means six speaker units in total, although the subwoofer is a bass enclosure rather than an independent full-range channel. The subwoofer connects wirelessly to the soundbar. The rear speakers, despite some “wireless surround” descriptions, connect to the subwoofer using RCA cables. The supplied rear-speaker cable is listed as 6 metres, so placement and cable routing matter.

- Simplified 5.1ch Dolby Atmos Setup: Enjoy immersive 4D sound with real Dolby Atmos and 5.1-channel audio. Five built-in speakers, including two side-firing drivers, create wide surround without rear speakers. Precision DSP ensures <0.5 ms latency for smooth, theater-like sound. Setup takes less than 1 minute.
- Voice Clarity Enhancement: VoiceMX technology uses advanced DSP algorithms to isolate and enhance vocal frequencies in real time. Dialogue remains crisp and easy to follow by separating speech from background effects and music, even at low volumes or during intense scenes.
- 300W Output with 6-Driver System: Featuring five precision-tuned full-range drivers and a dedicated wired wooden subwoofer, the system delivers up to 300W of peak power for bold, room-filling sound. With a frequency response of 45 Hz–18 kHz and a maximum SPL of 99 dB, it reproduces everything from subtle nuances to explosive cinematic effects.
- 18 mm High-Excursion Driver: Powered by BassMX technology, the wired wooden subwoofer features a 18 mm high-excursion driver, a 5.3L tuned cabinet, and a high-density magnetic circuit. This design delivers deeper, tighter bass with greater air displacement and enhanced low-frequency performance—bringing more realism to every scene.
- HDMI eARC for True Dolby Atmos: HDMI eARC supports up to 37 Mbps of bandwidth, unlocking the full potential of lossless Dolby Atmos 5.1-channel audio. Compared to standard ARC, eARC delivers richer surround effects and greater detail. CEC integration allows the TV and soundbar to work together with unified control.
Ultimea recommends the system for rooms of approximately 250–380 square feet (20–35 square metres). This is a manufacturer recommendation, not an independently verified performance limit.
Is it real Dolby Atmos?
Yes, the D60 supports Dolby Atmos decoding. No, it does not deliver the same overhead effect as a 5.1.2 or larger Atmos system.
The D60 has a 5.1 speaker layout and no upward-firing height drivers. It can receive Atmos-encoded audio and render it through its available speakers, but it has limited ability to place sound above the listener. Independent testing found the height effect weak. Calling it “fake Atmos” would be misleading; “Atmos-compatible, but without dedicated height channels” is more accurate.
For Atmos playback, Ultimea says the TV and soundbar should be connected through HDMI eARC. The manufacturer’s Atmos and DTS guidance and user manual provide the relevant signal requirements.
Price and versions
The current US product listing, checked on August 18, 2026, showed the app-control model at $169.99. Prices, discounts, shipping and warranty terms vary by region and can change, so treat that figure as a dated reference rather than a permanent price.

Connections and compatibility
Best TV connection: HDMI eARC
- Connect the TV’s HDMI ARC/eARC port to the D60’s HDMI eARC port.
- Select eARC on the D60 remote.
- Set the TV’s digital audio output to Auto or Pass Through.
- Enable Dolby Atmos, bitstream or pass-through options if your TV provides them.
- Enable HDMI-CEC if you want to control volume with the TV remote.
The TV must support eARC for the recommended Atmos path. A standard HDMI ARC connection may handle ordinary surround or compressed formats, but it should not be treated as equivalent to eARC for Atmos. Ultimea’s connection guide recommends eARC ahead of optical, Bluetooth, AUX and USB.

Using a streaming box, console or disc player
The D60 does not appear to offer HDMI video pass-through, so it should not be used as an HDMI switch. Instead, connect the external source to an HDMI input on the TV, then connect the TV’s eARC port to the D60. Set the source to bitstream and the TV to Auto or Pass Through. The external-device instructions cover this arrangement.
The DTS limitation
The D60 does not decode DTS. This can affect Blu-ray discs, game consoles, media servers and local files using DTS or DTS-HD soundtracks. A TV or source device may decode DTS and output PCM, but success depends on the equipment in the signal chain. If a DTS soundtrack is silent or incompatible, try PCM output or select a Dolby soundtrack when available.
App control on the newer model
On the app-control version, the Ultimea app provides a 10-band equalizer, 121 preset EQ matrices, independent surround-level adjustment and multiple listening modes. This is useful for balancing rear-channel volume or tailoring the sound to music and films.
Those features do not apply automatically to every D60 listing. Older non-app units may use different firmware and controls, so confirm the exact generation before assuming app compatibility.

Surround and dialogue
The D60’s clearest advantage over a television’s built-in speakers is the physical rear-speaker layout. The rear channels provide useful separation and a wider, more immersive presentation than virtual surround alone. Dialogue was also judged relatively clear in independent testing.

Bass
The dedicated subwoofer adds weight, but independent testing found the bass less forceful than expected. This is not the right system for buyers prioritising cinema-level impact or powerful low-frequency effects.
Atmos effects
Atmos material can sound broader and more enveloping, but the missing height drivers are decisive. Effects moving above the listening position will be far less convincing than they are on a genuine height-channel system.
Build and usability
The system is compact and setup is straightforward, but the construction and remote feel inexpensive. The wired rear speakers can also create cable clutter. The independent review did not note room correction, a dedicated speech-enhancement mode or a night mode.

Troubleshooting common problems
No sound
- Check that the cable is in the TV’s ARC/eARC port, not an ordinary HDMI port.
- Confirm that the D60 is set to eARC.
- Set the TV audio output to an HDMI receiver or external audio system.
- Try Auto, then Pass Through.
- Enable HDMI-CEC.
- Power-cycle the TV and soundbar.
- Reconnect or replace the HDMI cable.
- If the source uses DTS, change the source or TV output to PCM.
- Try optical as a fallback.
No Atmos indicator
Check that the TV supports eARC, the title and subscription include Atmos, the correct language track is selected, the source is not converting the signal, and the soundbar is not connected through optical, AUX or Bluetooth.

Silent rear speakers
Check the RCA connections, subwoofer power and wireless pairing. Increase the surround level and test content with genuine surround information; simple stereo material may produce little rear-channel activity.
The app cannot find the system
The unit may be an older non-app D60. Otherwise, check Bluetooth pairing mode, the selected regional product variant and whether another device is already connected.
Should you buy the Ultimea Poseidon D60?
Buy it if physical rear surround is more important to you than overhead Atmos, deep bass or a completely cable-free installation. It is a sensible budget choice for a small or medium-sized room, especially with an eARC-equipped TV and Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus or Atmos streaming content.
Choose something else if you specifically want convincing overhead effects, DTS compatibility, HDMI inputs, fully wireless rear speakers, room correction, advanced dialogue processing or stronger bass. A system such as the Hisense AX5125H costs more but adds height channels, HDMI pass-through and DTS support. Samsung’s Q800-series systems generally offer stronger bass and more convincing Atmos performance at a substantially higher price. The Majority Bowfell Halo Atmos occupies a similar budget category and has been reported to offer stronger low-end output, but it also lacks dedicated height drivers and has budget-level construction.
The value argument is strongest around the roughly $170–$200 range. At a materially higher price, compare current 5.1.2 systems before buying, since the D60’s missing height channels and modest bass become harder to overlook.
