The Typhur Dome 2 air fryer has heating elements above and below its wide, shallow basket. Typhur says the design cooks food more evenly and reduces shaking or flipping, but that is not a promise that every food can be left untouched: its own guide says to flip steak halfway through. The practical appeal is a broad cooking surface for foods spread in a layer, paired with heat from both directions.
How the Dome 2’s dual heating works
Typhur describes its system as “360° Heating Technology,” combining top and bottom heating elements with dual temperature sensors and a redesigned airflow system. The company says the two elements help food cook evenly with less shaking or flipping. That is a manufacturer performance claim, not an assurance that every ingredient, load, or cooking mode will produce uniform results without attention.
The heating balance also varies by preset. In Typhur’s guide, Air Fry, Reheat, Bake, Roast, Broil, Dehydrate, Bacon, Wings, Fries, and Frozen are top-element-focused. Toast, Grill, Griddle, Pizza, and Steak are bottom-element-focused. So the appliance has two elements, but a selected mode does not necessarily use them equally.
What hands-on cooking reports show
In an April 12, 2025 hands-on review, Ideal Home reported testing chicken, bacon, frozen pizza, and steak. The reviewer found the tested chicken evenly cooked and the bacon crisp without turning. The pizza became crisp after the reviewer adjusted the preset temperature to match the package instructions. Steak was turned and given additional time; the reviewer said the bottom element browned it well.

Those are useful observations from one reviewer, not a controlled laboratory comparison or a guarantee for other recipes and portion sizes. They support a more limited conclusion than a blanket “no flipping” claim: some foods in that review cooked well without turning, while steak still needed intervention.
Does it cook faster?
Typhur claims the Dome 2 can reduce cooking time by “up to 30%.” The product page does not state a year for this claim, and the available independent review does not establish that figure through a controlled comparison. Treat it as Typhur’s advertised maximum, not a dependable time saving for every recipe.

AF05 and AF03: what differs
Typhur identifies AF05 as the graphite-gray Dome 2 model and AF03 as Classic Silver. The company says both share the core cooking performance, including dual heating, self-cleaning, and 15 functions. AF05’s specified extra is app-based fan-speed adjustment in Air Fry mode; its three settings are Low, Medium, and High. The fan adjustment is app-only and does not apply across every mode.
Basket shape, capacity, and counter fit
Typhur lists the AF05 at 5.6 qt capacity, with a 139.5 sq in cooking area and a 2.3 in basket height. It says the surface fits a 12-inch pizza and describes the low-profile basket as intended for single-layer food, not a whole chicken or other tall items. The shape is best suited to foods that can spread across the surface rather than stack vertically.

The appliance measures 19.7 × 15.6 × 10.3 inches and weighs 20 lb. Its listed electrical requirements are 1,750 W, AC 120 V, 60 Hz, and the temperature range is 105–450°F. Measure the counter area and the front clearance needed to access the basket before buying; capacity alone does not convey how much room this wide appliance occupies.
Functions, materials, and cleaning
Typhur lists eight functions available on the unit—Air Fry, Toast, Dehydrate, Reheat, Pizza, Bacon, Steak, and Wings—and seven available through the app—Bake, Broil, Grill, Griddle, Fries, Roast, and Frozen. The listed basket is aluminum alloy with a PFAS-free nonstick ceramic coating, and the product includes a self-cleaning mode. Who the Dome 2 suits
- A good fit: cooks who often prepare pizza, bacon, or other foods that benefit from a broad, shallow single layer and want top-and-bottom heating available.
- Less suitable: anyone who needs to cook tall items such as a whole chicken, has limited counter width or depth, or expects every preset to eliminate turning.
- Worth noting: AF05’s adjustable fan is controlled in the app and only in Air Fry mode; AF03 is described by Typhur as sharing the core cooking performance.
Typhur says the Dome 2 launched on January 15, 2025, at a historical starting price of $499. That launch figure is not a current offer; check the current price and model before purchase.
